01. King Kong - Come Down [Jah All Mighty 014]
What a bang0r and an essential re-issue for all fans of Reggae and DigiDub. Originally released in 2k12 with a mastering x engineering mishap leaving out the bassline on the b-side version the 2k24 re-release of "Come Down" presents the tune in all its intended glory, with the original full version being one of the most captivating, seductive, vibing, yet pleading Conscious Reggae cuts we've heard in quite a while whilst the stripped down riddim provides enough space for the essential elements in a late night club selection.
02. DJ Heartchore - In Love [Heartchore 001]
So it's late 1993 again. Well, actually it's not but this is how DJ Heartchore's debut release feels with its raw production approach, over the top Gabber x Happy Hardcore fusion vibe, fast tempo, continous Rave stab attacks, twisted synth tones and uplifting, yet hypercheesy vocoder breakdown sequence. Two versions on an one-sided 12" whitelabel for those who've been there when this sound hit the scene in the first place.
03. Overmono & The Streets - Turn The Page [XL Recordings]
"Turn The Page", the opening track from Mike Skinner's iconic The Streets debut album "Original Pirate Material" gets a proper 2k24 rework from Overmono on limited one-sided etched 12" vinyl who keeps close to the classic UK Garage vibe of the original tune for a start before adding super scenic string panoramas, overwhelming subs and glitched out, complex, junglistic beat breakdown sequences for the more advanced Bass Music dancefloors out there. File under: anthemic bass is anthemic.
04. Gasoline - Snap Your Neck Back EP [Beatsqueeze Records]
And finally... HipHop. On yellow 33rpm 7" vinyl. Intense, sample-heavy and scratch-loaden crime scene music. Both instrumental and fueled by razor sharp Rap vocals for those who still remember the golden age of the genre with tracks like these being played in intimate club settings like Hamburg's legendary Tempelhof alongside proper Street Soul cuts, Dope Beats, Jazz, Broken Beats and other goodness. This is pure gold.
05. Assembler Code & Jensen Interceptor - NRG LVLS [Trust 047]
The trusted Trust label from Austria is back with a new 12" release, catering a selection of four tracks cooked up in the studio by Assembler Code and Jensen Interceptor. The, well..., somewhat expected result of this conjunctional effort covers a sonic range from cold, banging uptempo sci-fi-infused Robo Electro to clean, 4-2-the-floor based ElectroTechno and deeper, slightly 'troity and sub-heavy Electro variations for those who know.
06. Tom Carruthers - Downtown Rhithms [L.I.E.S. Records 208]
Over the course of the past 12 months Tom Carruthers has unleashed a quite remarkable string of releases including "Downtown Rhithms" which provides an authentic and well seductive twelve track emulation of late 80s / early90s US House vibes garnished with sprinkles of classic AcidHouse and even HipHouse whilst also venturing into early DeepHouse and Balearic territories at times. This is as retro as it gets in contemporary House Music.
07. Minds At Large - Allsorts EP [Vinyl Fanatiks 066]
Originally released back in 1993 and now back on the scene as a limited to 350 copies vary-marbled 12" vinyl reissue courtesy of the Vinyl Fanatiks camp the "Allsorts EP" provides four tracks with a range from deep atmospheric Breakbeat Jungle and uplifting Jungle rollers to - most importantly - the iconic Darkside cut that is "Tunnel Vision" which surely features on of the most epic and recognizable synth line samples in the entire history of Jungle / Drum'n'Bass.
