Dr. NoiseM - Studio Works 37 [Dr. NoiseM Tapes Promo]
Released via the artist run and owned imprint Dr. NoiseM Tapes on July 23rd, 2k24 is "Studio Works 37", the 37th - sic! - consecutive longplay outing on the label cooked up by the long standing experimental music activist. Opening with "Closer To The Beginning", the 15 minutes spanning main epos of this digital album, Dr. NoiseM explores a field of strange, otherworldly and ever shifting off-harmonics of rather subdued, muffled and weirdly comforting nature whereas the subsequent "Palindrome" comes at us from a similar angle, yet focuses more on Dark Ambient melancholia and the revival of respiratory sounds which were to be found on a regular in the artists early works, followed by the crackly CutUp x Plunderphonics madness of "Stereo Keyboard" and the raw, spiralling and surprisingly bass heavy Techno of "The Fisting Room" which later is accompanied by a beautiful, almost classical sounding PianoTrance melody. Furthermore "Generation Zero" provides more studies in CutUp x Plunderphonics, this time mostly focused on shredded Heavy Metal guitar solos and so does "The Cut Up World" whilst "The Days Of Eden" basically pairs more respiratory sounds with shimmering, icey and brittle Ambient pads slightly reminiscent of an ancient sunrise over a glacial plateaux. Following up is "The Last Morning", a surprisingly kitsch-y take on meditative, yet somewhat unsettling New Age x EsoAmbient rolled out over 7+ minutes, "Im Angesicht Des Todes" brings forth more intense, metallic and slightly nerve-wrecking structures of probably electro-acoustic nature, well suitable to provide a spine-tingling score for vintage sci-fi horror flics before the final cut named "Fear Your Dreams" takes brooding nocturnal DarkAmbient to a new ritualistic, demonic and surely more dangerous level fro a closing. Good stuff, this!
