Kubri - Due [Aut Records 113]
Scheduled for release via the ever active Aut Records label on October 4th, 2k24 is "Due", the sophomore album outing for the Piacenza-based Italian quartet that is Kubri - and their first album officially signed to a label considering the fact that their 2021 firstling was self-released, -funded and -distributed by the group on their own. Now embedded in a more structured and professional setting Andrea Cravedi, Nicola Perricone, Riccardo Cavicchia and Vittorio Solinas set out on an eight tracks and roughly 40 minutes spanning sonic journey, embracing musical influences including, yet not limited to, Psychedelia, Jazz, PostRock and others to create a very own sonic landscape opening on a romantic, and naturalistic tip with "Amado Mio" which, in its tender and peaceful tone, perfectly reflects late mediterranean evenings whereas the subsequent "Bolsa Da Gatos" is driven by well funky bass figures and lively drums providing rather interesting acoustics within the vicinity of the recording space whilst pieces like "Spinasanta" might hit hard on rural, melancholia driven and Jazz-informed dancefloors, the miniature cut that is "Asa Nisi Masa" fully explores tender, yet spatial PostRock vibes backed by all and ever embracing organic subs and therefore might be one of our personal favorites on this longplayer whereas the closing cut "Esche Vive" focuses on intimately plucked guitar minimalisms for late night listening sessions backed by echoes of FutureJazz just to name a few. Quite a tender one, this.
