Put out on the digital circuit via the notorious imprint that is Sound Kleckse Records on July 7th, 2k22 is "Blue Line", the latest two track single outing by no-one less than The D3VI7 himself. Opening with the title cut that is "Blue Line" we see the producer from hell on a raw, unprocessed and certainly bleep-infused high octane Techno tip exploring nothing but intense 100% peaktime realms sonically whereas the subsequent cut named "Cold Shaker" brings forth an expertly sculpted and hyperfunctional take on highspeed Techno minimalism, with its banging drums and motor city-infused synth stab sequence surely informed by aesthetics pioneered by greats like Robert Hood and Jeff Mills whilst its highly compressed uptempo attitude and dynamic structure are bringing nothing but maximum heat to contemporary Techno dancefloors for a reason. Bang!

Pierce Wernacke - Deafened By The Noise Of Time [Room40 Promo]

Scheduled for release via the Australian Ambient staple that is Room40 is "Deafened By The Noise Of Time", the new 39 minutes spanning album outing by Pierce Warnecke who presents us with a set of four untitled pieces aptly named "Untitled I - IV" with this one. Following a conceptual approach of focusing on sonic decay Warnecke starts his journey from an angle of progressively washed out (tape?) loops separated by distinct moments of silence, further provides similarly structured waves of warm, yet brooding Ambient minimalisms garnished with mysterious crackles and deep melodic structures in "Untitled 2", drifts into brittle, touching and most beautiful nocturnal, Dark Ambient-bordering soundscapes with "Untitled 3" which turns out to be our personal favorite on this album before "Untitled 4" even starts to dabble with atender, digitally reprocessed, melancholia inducing Electronica / Deep Listening Music fusion for a closing. Probably one of the most calm and chill longplay pieces out on the circuit these days. Check.

Polski Piach - Polnoc [Gusstaff Records Promo]

Polski Piach are back with their sophomore album outing, once again put out on the circuit via the Polish label that is Gusstaff Records. Released on June 17th, 2k22 the successor to their firstling "Poludnie" provides a new serving of ten brand new tunes rolled out over the course of 48 minutes which goes even deeper in terms of Desert Blues / Desert Rock from the very beginning of the opening title track "Polnoc" onwards which provides beautifully meandering guitar melodies alongside touching Jazz and string melancholia for hot summer nights, paving the way for things to come like the twangy high noon minimalism of "Wisielec" and the dusty, yet highly seductive dancefloor draw of "Fortuna" whereas pieces like "Nieznany" are probably a manifestation of well aged bourbon whiskey in sonic form, "Pogrzebowy" indulges in deep nocturnal minimalisms with a slightly mediterranean touch and the closing tune that is "Kochankowie" even weighs in a certain amount of drama after a short intro sequence reminiscent of classic horror score motifs to round things off nicely. Defo one recommended album, this.

Pakistan Techno Force - Countries EP [Fresscode Records 011 Promo]

Put out on the digital circuit on June 6th, 2k22 via Fresscode Records as the labels cat.no. 011 is the "Countries EP", the third ever single released by the mysterious project named Pakistan Techno Force - which might not actually be hailing from Pakistan but this is pure speculation at this point. Opening with "Countries" we see the project exploring deep, stripped down and groovy Intelligent Techno realms infused by original Minimal Techno / TechHouse vibes and swampy, slightly distorted Acid bass sequences for a hyperhypnotic effect, the subsequent "Alligator" brings forth a way more violent and brutalist take on hard pumping Chicago Basement for all fans of raw, unprocessed Dancemania productions of yore whereas the closing cut that is "Castle" amalgamates psychotic, yet subdued MonoAcid vibes with hounded, ever so stumbling bassdrums and what seem to be heavily filtered Disco basslines to a truly state-of-mind-altering effect that actually is about to cause massive bloodshed on any dancefloor out there. The Pakistan Techno Force is a force to be reckoned with for sure.

Alexandra Grimal - Refuge [Relative Pitch Records]

Put out on the circuit via Relative Pitch Records on June 17th, 2k22 is "Refuge", the new, eight tracks and roughly 58 minutes spanning album effort created by French saxophone player Alexandra Grimal who's amassed quite an impressive catalogue since appearing first on the longplay circuit back in 2009. Oepning with two solo pieces both exceeding the ten minutes mark Grimal sets the tone for all things to come on this album, providing a playful, almost (Neo)Classical or even rennaissance'esque take on her instrument of choice, the soprano saxophone, in the opening piece that is "Salamandre" whereas the subsequent "Chateau" is following on an eerie, haunted and solemn path into the twilight before losing itself in extended longing hauls which seem to find their nightly response in "Susumu" whereas both "Martinets" and "Vent" go down a road of pronounced minimalist repetition, "Roseliere" and "Escalier" hark back to enchanted Classical motifs from ancient fairytales and the final cut that is "Berceuse" rounds things off on a slightly more playful, yet melancholia infused note for a closing.

Trzaska / Vrba / Tokar / Pandi - Mala Pardubicka Vol. 4 [Gusstaff Records]

Put out on the circuit via Gusstaff Records on June 10th, 2k22 is "Mala Pardubicka Vol. 4", the latest full length album outing created by the international quartet comprised of Mikolaj Traszka, Petr Vrba, Mark Tokar and Balasz Pandi which once again combine their instruments of choice - sax, trumpet, electronics, double bass and drums - to take us on a 15 tracks and roughly 66 minutes spanning journey. Weighing in both individual influences and experiences as well as (Free)Jazz traditions from their respective motherlands as the participating artists are hailing from Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Ukraine, their journey starts from a point of masterfully subdued, yet HyperFunk-infused bassline pressure accompanied by loads of expertly worked out Jazz / DarkJazz details, later progresses into more nocturnal territories whilst bits like "Freshly Born" provide grounds for a fascinating musical dialogue of sorts, the "Heavy Moth" might turn out to be a longing experimental Jazz standard of the future whereas "Kotva Tova" drives and wrenches its apparent main motif through improvisational hell leading it to ecstatic heights just to name a few. Heavy, yet well fascinating stuff.

Kl4ng - Live A Venise [Studio Lab'ut 003 Promo]

Put out on the circuit as cat.no. 003 of the Studio Lab'Ut series on July 7th, 2k22 is "Live A Venise", the latest album affair thought up and performed by the multi-artist collaboration project that is Kl4ng, in this particular case comprised of and represented by Francoise Kubler, Armand Angster, Yerri-G Hummel and Pablo Valentino. Originally coming from an angle of remixing given experimental source material from a DJ perspective initially Kl4ng has moved forward to what could be described as fully improvisionational terrain with the 13 cuts on this 65 minutes spanning longplayer, pairing experimental Downbeats with elements of Opera, haunted electronics and playful Jazz excursions, going down a touching, yet fully theatrical route with "Carlos", bringing forth a spaced out, tongue-in-cheek attitude in "Le Fou Saxophonisant" which even employs modified, reprocessed scratching techniques within its rich sonic palette whilst drifting off into calm, melancholia-inducing territories with "Cage", drawing further inspiration from raw HipHop b-boy beat culture in "Firmin" whereas "Sing Song" re-introduces us to full on FreeJazz from a faraway retrofuture just to name a few. Quite a unique one, this, which by far defies the vast majority of all genre categories out there.

Antti Tolvi - Spectral Organ / Feedback Gong [Room40 Promo]

Released via the Australian staple that is Room40 on July 8th, 2k22 is "Spectral Organ / Fededback Gong", the latest - two tracks and roughly 43 minutes spanning - album effort by Finnish composer x sound installation artist Antti Tolvi. Opening with "Spectral Organ" Tolvi presents an unaltered live recording of a piece performed in a 14th century church on the island of Kemiö which takes the micro-genre of warm and hypercomforting Minimal Drone Ambient to a new, near static level. Furthermore "Feedback Gong", originating as a piece for a sound / light installation, is following up on a similar, more low end oriented path, providing slightly more movement and agitation in terms of creating the illusion of the original sound source rapidly moving back and forth, away from and towards the actual listener and therefore creating what could be called a slightly discomforting feel of disorientation, dizzying nausea and motion sickness in parts even though the tune tends to calm down and turn into a comforting sonic cocoon over the course of its continued playtime. Deep Listening Music doesn't get any deeper than this.

The monolithic album debut by Hamburg-based DJ x producer x electronic music activist baze.djunkiii, the essence of 25+ years on the scene and continuous research in sonic fields reaching far beyond your regular club music. A dark and threatening journey through the realms of brooding DeathAmbient, cold, hostile sci-fi atmospheres and an innate feel of darkness, doom, desolation and industrial wastelands covered in toxic fumes and the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse. Released via the elusive digital imprint that is the X-Static Dance Department is "Vol. 02", the second ever two track single put out on the circuit by a project named X.D.D.. With its name harking back to good old Techno Rave days stylewise we see the X.D.D. project set course for full on dancefloor movement with the raw and well muscular attitude of "Exit E" which combines the untamed madness and unpolishedness of early 90s Italian productions with a hint of heavy, relentless Techno Trance hypnotizm to a great effect whilst the subsequent cut named "Geek" shifts gears towards a hounded, whipping lo-fi variation of slightly shuffled ToolTechno action, weighing in loads of filter action, an overall percussive attitude and warped echoes of slightly mutated Disco licks hidden deep within the mix for all adventurous and most of all: relentless and fast mixing trueskool DJ's out there. Bang.

Nitrogene - Pump [La Bomba Recordings 006 Promo]

Put out on the digital circuit on March 2nd, 2k22 via La Bomba Recordings as their cat.no. 006 is "Pump", the very first musical outing for the imprint provided by the upcoming artist that is Nitrogene. Opening with the title track that is "Pump" we see Nitrogene on a classic, uptempo and highly functional Techno tip bringing back certain percussive elements and grooves we all loved so much about labels like Monoid back in the days whilst playing around with one of the most classic vocal samples in electronic music history ever whereas the subsequent follow up that is "Star Basic" brings forth a deep, beautiful and enchanted take on Ambient House / ProtoTrance that puts even genre classics like Atlantic Ocean "Waterfall" to absolute shame. One most perfect tune, this last one is.

Rafael Anton Irisarri - Agitas Al Sol [Room40 Promo]

Scheduled for release via the Australian Room40 imprint on July 22nd, 2k22 is "Agitas Al Sol", the latest album outing by NYC-based composer Rafael Anton Isarri who presents two extended tracks over the course of roughly 39 minutes on this one. Opening with "Atrial" we see Mr. Isarri provide an intense fusion of droning Death Ambient x midrange Noize pressure which evolves only ever so slowly, with hints of atmospheric strings carefully emerging from a whirling maelstrom of sound, turning the whole tunes feel around to a more calming and comforting effect whereas "Clock", the second cut on this longplayer, sets out for a glacially moving, yet classically Ambient-driven vibe from the very start, making way for a widescreen droning meditation accompanied by ethereal choirs of non-vocal nature, best consumed in a most natural setting watching an epic balearic sunset - or -rise, if you're one of these early bird creatures that allegedly exist. Somewhere. In a land far, far away.

Baldrian Quartett - Entschlummern Sollst Du, Sollst Entschlummern [Bruit 011]

Put out on the circuit via the Bruit imprint as their cat.no. 011 on June 10th, 2k22 is "Entschlummern Sollst Du, Sollst Entschlummern", the latest full length album effort by the famed Baldrian Quartett which takes on four string quartet compositions allegedly written by composer Frieda Bertelsohn Martholdy throughout her short, and somewhat tragic, life from 1878 to 1907. Allegedly, because the internet has taught us to be skeptical about each and everything and even though the CD booklet contains detailed, yet somewhat nebulous information about Bertelsohn Martholdy's life mentioning her being somewhat of a musical wunderkind which somehow anticipated 20th century composition techniques without having access to a proper instrument in her later years are to be taken with a grain of salt and point toward an elaborate hoax rather than toward a true story from our perspective. This being said, the music featured on "Entschlummern Sollst Du, Sollst Entschlummern" comes across as a rather contemporary affair, gravitating to a realm of brittle Minimal Ambient / Minimal Music rather than towards Modern or Contemporary Classical which might also be suggested by the albums artwork which pays homage to the classic layout of record companies like Deutsche Grammophon with the opening title track being comprised of fragile high frequency dronings, electroacoustic movements and what seem to be computational bleeps of a retrofuturist nature as well as extended periods of near silence which are also found in the subsequent cut that is "Schaurig Empfundene Nähe", a piece also incorporating microtonal airflows, echoes of scraping surface noises as well as deep and heartfelt nocturnal melancholia. Furthermore "Ode Für Den Tod (Fragment)" pairs more minimalist string dronings with calamitous bass presence, Field Recordings and an overall ominous atmosphere of sorts before "Ich Habe Genug" rounds things off on a rather rhythmically defined and dynamic tip in comparison to its predecessors. Recommended to all fans and followers of electroacoustic composition, this one.

Low Frequency - Calculation EP [Dancefloor Socialism 013 Promo]

Released on the digital circuit via the imprint that is Dancefloor Socialism on May 23rd, 2k22 is the "Calculation EP", the first appearance on the label made by an act named Low Frequency. Opening with "Calculation" we see Low Frequency on a deep and pumping Hypno HardHouse tip bringing forth warm grooves, mind-bending background modulations and a short, yet top notch stab sequence for all the vintage club heads out there whilst the subsequent tune named "Alpenglühen" is weighing in hard bouncing, highly functional Techno minimalism in combination with twisted WildPitch x Acid infusions to provide well excellent fodder for all the real DJs out there. Proper good stuff, this.

Logout - Instrumentals [Sound In Silence 093]

Put out on the circuit via the ever active Greek label Sound In Silence as their cat.no. 093 on June 10th, 2k22 is "Instrumentals", the latest EP / mini album release by the highly elusive producer that is Logout. With this release Logout caters a set of seven miniatures over the course of a mere 17 minutes which sees him work his instrument of choice, the classical guitar, alongside additional violin support from Kalliopi Mitropoulou to present a surprisingly semi-acoustic and most of the times uptempo take on full-on frolicking, mostly instrumental Folk with bits like "Time Wasters" bringing forth a catchy, innocent songwriting attitude that moves as easily as flowers in a swift summer breeze whereas sweet miniatures like "Malignant" employ a kind of innate melancholia and subtle minimalism leading towards a dramatic climax to get their sonic point across just to pick two standout tunes here. Not necessarily a release we would've expected on Sound In Silence but a quality one to check out for all fans of Folk, Singer-Songwriter and probably (Neo)Classical-infused medieval sounds as well.

Gamlaskatten - Voltage [Audiophob 038]

Put out on the circuit via Jena's ever active Audiophob label on April 1st, 2k22 is "Voltage", the first full length album effort cooked up by the Aachen-based project Gamlaskatten which is the latest musical outing by producer Ralf Gatzen who has been pretty active on the underground scene throughout the past years, employing a variety of different guises which shall remain unnamed here. With his newest project and the sonic nom de guerre that is Gamlaskatten Mr. Gatzen serves a menu of eleven brand new tracks over the course of roughly 67 minutes, covering grounds from the expertly shaped and heavily syncopated Electro / Broken Techno fusion of the opener "Magadan" to pounding Industrial Techno in "Dirty Ground" which is slightly reminiscent of Current Value's long forgotten Techno ventures under the name of Curve #146 before entering high octane territories with the title track whereas pieces like "Transmission 3" explore the grey area in between Industrial, Acid and heavy early 90s Techno in an intense, ever spiralling fashion that's well suitable for strobe-lit peaktime dancefloors whilst the closing cut that is "CCCPx" brings forth cold and haunting Space Ambient atmospheres and heavy, grinding Downtempo Industrial / Illbient structures for a change just to name a few. File under: heavy artillery for adventurous DJ's. Check.

Nihiti - Sustained [Lo Bit Landscapes 019]

Released as cat.no. 019 of the L.A.-based Lo Bit Landscapes imprint on July 7th, 2k22 is "Sustained", the latest longplay effort created by the label staple Nihiti who's been invlvd in the ventures musings ever since 2009. With the latest album being a commissioned work originally created for the 2k20-edition of the American Sustain-Release festival we see longplay piece being rolled out over 43 minutes and a total of three extended compositions. Opening with "Stellar Observer" Nihiti caters a well extended 20+ minutes take on calm, scenic Ambient pulses which will surely resonate with fans of the slow moving, melancholia-inducing romanticism of Wolfgang Voigt's classic GAS project whereas "Tetrachrome" provides comforting waves of warm, yet brooding and spine-tingling Ambient droning paired with the digital equivalent of a faraway surf blown over by summer winds before "If The Color" amalgamates slightly brighter, chromatic and twisting, in parts even (Neo)Cosmic-leaning structures with ghostly whispers seeping through from a realm slightly beyond our normal space-time-continuum to a fascinating, yet somewhat eerie effect. Deep.

Akemi Tanaka - We Came In Peace [Eyes Wide Open Records Promo]

Another fresh one put out on the digital circuit via the mysterious label that is Eyes Wide Open Records more recently is "We Came In Peace", the new single by Akemi Tanaka. With two tracks named "Part 1" and "Part 2" Mr. Tanaka pairs an epic, infamous, yet well cut-up vocal sample with driving uptempo beats and warm, all embracing sinewave bass pressure as well as a slightly trancey, positive vibe on the first cut whereas the second cut presents a deep, washed out and most classic Ambient / ChillOut variation which sticks true to the genres approved genre formula and probably would've been a staple in Paris' Buddha Bar sets and sessions if it had been produced and released two decades prior to now. Ambient in its true form, this tune is.

P.T.B.S. / The D3VI7 - Tod [Hate Ministry 010 Promo]

Released on the digital circuit via Hate Ministry as their cat.no. 010 is "Tod", the latest collaboration single cooked up by Ufuk Özbayar a.k.a. P.T.B.S. in collaboration with the lord of his personal Techno hell - the mysterious force that is The D3VI7. Opening with "Heute Ist Ein Guter Tag Zu Sterben" puts a hammering Broken Business Techno perspective on samples and atmospheres well known to those who've been blown away by Near Dark's early 90s Techno take on the then shocking movie 'Flatliners' which featured an illustrious cast of Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon and Kiefer Sutherland in headlining roles with "Klinisch Tod" following in a similar fashion with another set of banging, reverberating BrokenTechno drum violence whilst - unlike its predecessor - adding nothing new or essential to the electronic music narrative apart from being hard just for the sake of being hard. And unfortunately that's not enough to stick out these days.

Marta Warelis - A Grain Of Earth [Relative Pitch Records]

Another fresh album released via Relative Pitch Records on June 17th, 2k22 is "A Grain Of Earth", the latest nine tracks and roughly 33 minutes spanning album effort conceived by Marta Warelis. On her fourth longplayer the Polish piano player explores a realm of tender, frolicking, yet at times sparse Contemporary Classical x (Neo)Classical composition techniques with meandering, glistening tonal waves pushing to and fro whereas pieces like "(Into) Body In Pieces" fully explore the harsh, mechanical side of the piano as an instrument that usually is never revealed until one decidedly uses and abuses it to the absolute max, bowing strings and straining moving parts against their intended function whilst driving its keys to thundering climaxes in fast-paced exercises drawing inspiration both from the Improv as well as the Jazz scene at times whereas bits like "In Waves" cater ever accelerating, hounded and intertwined movements which for some reason evoke blurred, cloudy memories of the era of silent film whilst the title track that is "A Grain Of Earth" fully indulges in tender romanticism and the concluding "Ashes To Sea" comes across as ghostly and otherworldly as an alienated piano performance that seems more like a ghostly cello or viola can be just to name a few.

Kurws - Powiez / Fascia [Gusstaff Records]

Put out on the circuit via the ever active Polish imprint that is Gusstaff Records on June 10th, 2k22 is "Powiez / Fascia", the fourth full length album effort by the experimental band outfit Kurws which has been around on the album circuit for roughly a decade now and operates in a trio setting for this specific album. Bringing forth a set of seven new tracks over the course of roughly 42 minutes with wildly varying individual playtimes ranging from 52 seconds to 15 minutes - !!! - the group presents a sonic exploration that leads them from agitated, lo-fi'ish Instrumental Art School PostPunk to echoes of Ska-influences, complex, stumbling and stuttering rhythm sequences partially even informed by abstractions of Jazz grooves whereas other sequences draw inspiration from tripping SpaceRock, krautsy meanderings as well as fever'ish captivating PostRock, thundering MathRock and even touching base with certain variations of Indietronica at some point. This album makes me wanna see Kurws live on stage, most likely in some semi-legal basement venue probably run and set up by some long time squatters which might have run that place, all equipment, lights and freezers included, on one singular power outlet for two decades or so. It truly is THAT kind of music.

Ausgang V - Room Mate [Eyes Wide Open Records Promo]

The next new digital single on the mysterious imprint that is Eyes Wide Open Records after an extended break is "Room Mate", seemingly the first ever outing of the upcoming producer that is Ausgang V. Opening with "Newport" we're facing a well muscular, ever pumping and slightly EBM-infused take on hypnotic, stripped down TechHouse garnished with occasional DubTechno pads and blurred out harmonies whilst the subsequent second tune named "Room 1" brings forth more of a driving, dubbed out and timeless ProtoTrance x TechnoTrance fusion vibe which would've be well suited to fit in with compilations like "X-Mix-3 - Enter: Digital Reality!" back in the first half of the 90s and therefore presents a perfect homage to what is to be considered as the golden age of electronic music for many a reason. Good stuff.

Joyfultalk - Familiar Science [Constellation Records 163]

Released via Constellation Records on May 6th, 2k22 is "Familiar Science", the fourth full length album effort by the Jay Crocker-led project Joyfultalk and the follow up to 2k20's longplayer "A Separation of Being" which we've also reviewed on these pages. Now coming back with a total of eight brand new tracks rolled out over the course of 41 minutes Joyfultalk, instead of exploring a world of Phonk and SinoElectronica like in the preceding album, presents a much darker and ultimately unsettling sonic universe on "Familiar Science", pariring twisted, ominous and outerworldy choir loops with violent RhythmIndustrial-infused Illbient structures as well a good portion of DarkJazz in the opening tune that is "Body Stone" only to continue on a similar, earth-shaking path in the subsequent, yet slightly smoother "Take It To The Grave". The project further drifts into off kilter Blaxploitation x Easy Listening crossover themes with the title track "Familiar Science" whilst diving into nocturnal SpaceJazz with "Ballad In 9" or even providing thundering, complex and multilayered percussion freestyle meets intense, shrieking FreeJazz / Improv madness in bits like "Haglography" just to name a few. A fully fledged diversion from its predecessor this is so "Familiar Science" might not necessarily be a sure shot for all those who've only discovered Joyfultalk over the course of the past 24 months or so.

The D3VI7 - The Beat EP [Avaken 115 Promo]

Put out on the digital circuit via Avaken on June 10th, 2k22 is "The Beat EP", the next single release cooked up in hell'ish conditions by noone less than The D3VI7 himself. Whilst the original title track provides a long-building, braincell grinding and ever intensifying Techno ride over the course of 10+ minutes, later adding an ever repeating female vocal sample alongside deep spiralling Acid modulations to the mix we see Flensburg-based DJ Nightnoise on a darker, brooding and reverberating Business Techno tip in his remix version even though ethereal Trance strings add a little shimmering light peaking through the clouds somewhere at the horizon whereas "The Beat *Hanzzo Remix" elevates the original cut to a new level, weighing in an assortment of heavy drum works alongside a subtle, hyper-hypnotic and ever tripping AcidTrance sequence to provide a massive nuclear assault weapon for strobe-lit warehouse dancefloor at their absolute peak. The last mentioned mix is a large scale winner for sure.

Axiome - Field Guide To Alien Planets And Other Disco Balls [Audiophob 039]

Another fresh addition to the roster of Jena's Audiophob label is Axiome, the Belgian duo comprised of Cedrik Fermont and Olivier Moreau who've been on the circuit since 1991 and have had a stretch of releases put out via the infamous Ant-Zen label over the course of their extended career. With their latest album, the twelve tracks and 64+ minutes spanning "Field Guide To Alien Planets And Other Disco Balls", we see Axiome on a distinct Electro x ElectroBass tip providing dark and thundering sci-fi vibes alongside doomed vocoder voices from a dystopian future as well as cold, brooding and danger-heralding synth atmospheres, starting from the dancefloor smashing opener "Superfluid" to the sparse UltraPhonk of "Expanding Lightwaves", the hyperseductive shuffle of "Forsaken" as well as the brutalist, hard hitting beat assault of "The Dentist" and the funky AcidElectro fusion of "Planetarium", all, alongside many other unmentioned tunes, perfectly falling together to provide one of the purest, most genuine and thrilling Electro album we've come across for a long time. If 12" releases like Dynamix II's 2002 bang0r "Pledge Your Allegiance To Electro Funk" are sitting in the top shelves of your record collection for a reason you shouldn't miss out this one. Top drawer. Highly recommended.

Gabby Fluke-Mogul - Love Songs [Relative Pitch Records]

Put out on the circuit via the NYC-based label that is Relative Pitch Records on June 10th, 2k22 is Gabby Fluke-Mogul's "Love Songs", a 35 minutes and seventeen track spanning album piece in which the violin player conveniently, and somewhat cheekily, named all pieces subsequently going from "Love Song I" to "Love Song IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII". Recorded in a Manhattan studio in July of 2k21 we see Fluke-Mogul on a mission of taking the art of playing her instrument of choice to a new and undoubtedly extreme level, providing loads of off-kilter harmonies, harsh and scraping bowing techniques as well as violent outbursts and intense improvisations, partially accompanied by primordial vocal utterings or spontaneous rhythmic patters created live on location throughout the recording process whereas other pieces employ more of a semi-traditional approach towards the instrument, weighing in minimalist melodies and a certain melancholia both inherent to bowed and plucked sequences before, once again, falling back to the artists take on highly detailed and hypertechnical violin violence. If you're looking for one intense avantgarde album exceeding your typical realm of Modern Classical / Contemporary Classical music despite being closely related to the genres mentioned to check out these days you might well wanna go for this one.

01. Fontaines D.C. - Skinty Fia [Partisan Records]
This is a strong contender for what could be the album of the year in 2k22. Fontaines D.C.'s "Skinty Fia" is not only an essential album on its own but probably also the best PostPunk x Indie fusion thing we've heard in a long time, pairing the right amount of anger, drama, desolation and despair with a certain amount of krautsy hypnosis, distinct vocals and a fascinating Irish accent that will put tunes like "How Cold Love Is", "Jackie Down The Line", "Skinty Fia" or "I Love You" on heavy DJ rotation at our BETA-ZERFALL event series which is about to relaunch form mid-October onwards.

03. Various Artists - We're Going Deep Volume 6 [We're Going Deep 006]
The Bristol based imprint that is We're Going Deep brings forward a new four track compilation outing with this one, presenting exclusive tracks by the likes of Versalife, Mariska Neerman, Analog-1 and Morthen Kiang on their sixth 12" vinyl release dedicated to this format since label launched in 2k20. Following their mission statement implied in the labels name the sonic range of this 12" single leads us from tripping, playful Electro goodness to deep, slightly dubbed out and surely Detroit-infused Intelligent Techno for late night sets and beyond, providing plenty of goodness for all lovers of quality (electronic) music and seasoned club DJ's alike - especially when it comes to Morthen Kiang's slightly oldskool'ish and 90s leaning cut that is "Enter The Dragon".

Andreas Hiroui Larsson - Seduced By (A) Last Year [Thanatosis Produktion 014]

Thanatosis Produktion are clearly upping their release schedule these days with their cat.no. 014, Andreas Hiroui Larsson's debut album "Seduced By (A) Last Year", hitting the shelves on June 3rd, 2k22. Stretched out over one extended, 35+ minute spanning composition piece which has been realized with the help of contributing guest musicians Johanna Arve and Johan Jutterström Andreas Hiroui Larsson explores a sonic realm highly influenced by techniques like collage, Plunderphonics as well as echoes of Musique Concrete and, sic!, Jazz x Jazz Noir with a foundation of multilayered, intertwined vocal snippets and sparse additional electronics providing a dense, yet abstract framework for all sorts of jazzed out excursions, from longing, nocturnal and melancholia-infused sax tones to free floating, or thundering, drum works of partly improvised nature and even faint Industrial references, Field Recordings and FoundSound all falling together in an interesting and well arranged way yet provide quite a challenging listening experience for the uninitiated and those not familiar with any forms of so-called Avantgarde music. Calling this one a special interest album for a certainly very limited audience might not be far fetched, we reckon.
