01. Various Artists - Sounds Of Pamoja: The Future Sound Of Tanzania [Nyege Nyege Tapes]
Utter madness. The ever active imprint known as Nyege Nyege Tapes caters a proper round up on the hyperlocal dance music style that is Singeli, pushed mainly by producer Duke and his Pamoja label in Tanzania. Imagine an amalgamation of lo-fi Speedcore and African rhythms at hyperspeed, paired with rapidly changing rhythmic patterns, snippets of radio and TV advertisements and a barrage fire of - probably live recorded - mc's whose lyrics resemble the intensity of early Grime sessions... squared. With names like Dogo Kibo, Dogo Lizzy, Kidene, MC Kuke, MC Pilato, MC Dinho, MC Kono and Mczo this limited to 500 copies yellow vinyl 2LP provides quite an interesting trip into a scene totally new and alien to Western European ears, one that either fascinates or exhausts first time listeners to the max and surely is a proper tool to send your neighbours down a spiral of rapidly descending madness if blasted regularly at the right volume setting. Play loud.
02. Mint Huus - Odd Radio Circles [Cheezy Crust Records 005]
The fifth release on the near Hamburg-based label Cheezy Crust Records sees Mint Huus coming back with their second 12" vinyl outing on the label after
their 2019 debut, presenting a new, slightly more complex take on their trademark Electro interpretation which is paired with tender, melodic and slightly trancey pad layers, ever bubbling synth modulations and even occasional Acid references for dreamy, yet stripped down late night sets. If you've ever been watching shows like the HR3 Spacenight on German television as a young raver in the 90s you'll know exactly what you're in for with this one.
