Doc Schoko - Skulpturen Für Die Flaschenpost [Crocodile Tears Records Promo]

Another forthcoming album to be released via Berlin-based imprint Crocodile Tears Records is "Skulpturen Für Die Flaschenpost", seemingly the fifth full length outing by Christian Schulte a.k.a. Doc Schoko who's been active on the German scene since 1999. Scheduled for release on October 15th, 2k21 the eighteen track spanning longplayer, recorded alongside contributing artists Kristina Keller, also Mr. Schulte's real life partner in crime, and Uwe Jahnke, explores a sonic realm located somewhat in the intersecting twilight zone between Leftfield Pop, an innate singer-songwriter attitude and fringe, Psychedelia-infused IndiePop with the curiously cute song "Die Kleinste Party Der Welt *Club Version" dabbling in a tiki'esque lo-fi version of Easy Listening Pop, "Bin Ich Nicht Da" brings forth bluesy riffs and a somewhat cinematic, slightly dramatic feel and therefore turns out to be our favorite cut on the album, "Veranda" offers deep, laid back melancholia for hot late summer evenings, the short interlude that is "Impuls" evokes distant memories of various Jens Rachut-led ElectroPunk projects of late whereas "Freitagnacht" pairs washed out, distorted guitars with Spoken Word lyrics in a shoegazing, Desert Blues- / Desert Rock-referencing manner just to present a brief selection and rough layout of where "Skulpturen Für Die Flaschenpost" is going sonically. Well interesting, probably also for an audience with an appreciation for underground Artschool Pop and so-called German Liedermacher.
