Ellen Fullman & Theresa Wong - Harbors [Room40 Promo]
Set for release via Australia's Room40-imprint on August 21st, 2k20 is "Harbors", the latest 43 minutes spanning collaboration album created by Ellen Fullman and Theresa Wong which both weigh in their experience in experimental music composition for this three part longplayer. Opening on a very maritime Deep Listening Music tip fusing strings of both Wong's cello as well as Fullman's seventy feet aptly named long string instrument and electronic textures alongside low end heavy, slightly klaxon'esque pulses oozing a certain melancholia fans of long standing projects like Kallabris will immediately feel drawn to whilst naturalistic - flute? - melodies unfold for a while before "Part 2" gives way to a more solemn, Dark Ambient resembling interaction between the two artists even though plucked strings take on a more percussive role here and some frolicking, off-kilter melodic figures appear like elusive fairies in enchanted woods. Finally "Part 3" veers off into a vibrant, metallic and sci-fi leaning take of the albums intro piece, employing a scintillating movement of droney pads alongside meandering melodies, trademark klaxon'esque pulses and what seem to be altered, modified chord / pad variations for those who know.
