Lena Hessels - Billow [Terp Records]

Another one released on November 9th, 2k18, this time via the Dutch Terp Records label, is "Billow", the debut mini album of 17 year old Lena Hessels who brings us eight songs on this 21 minutes EP. With her first ever official release Lena, happening to be the daughter of The Ex's drummer Terrie and Terp Records manager Emma, explores the smokier, inward looking realms of Indie / Singer-Songwriter music, embeds elements of raw Garage production, bits of PostPunk melancholia and a good portion of Blues into her musical world, accompanied by sparse, haunted electronic backdrops occasionally, adding even more matureness, deep emotionality and spine-tingling intensity to an album that goes beyond everything one might expect from a teenage debut these days. This is beyond great for more than one reason.
