With these eight early recordings the listener, even if not familiar with the mystical and spiritual origins of the Mbira genre which has been played by the Shona people for centuries and even millenia, is entering a fascinating, organic and well-calming realm of naturalistic, ancient sound with a carribbean twist which, in its meandering repetition and partly even playful nature seems to be mysteriously familiar and all-embracing, like an age old structure that has been embedded into the musical dna of mankind since day one.
