1982 - Chromola [Hubro Music]
Released on the ever busy Hubro Music imprint in late March is "Chromola", the fifth album of the trio named 1982 in their ten years spanning career. Consisting of Nils Økland, Sigbjørn Apeland and Øyvind Skarbø the trio uses instruments like violin or Hardanger fiddle, harmonium and drums to create their compositions and even includes classic pipe organs on this one as there were two available when they recorded their album at the Sandviken church in Bergen / Norway. Naturally and given the set of instruments used the music of 1982 meanders beautifully between soundtracks for enchanted glades, (Neo)Classical and medieval-/campfire-referencing atmospheres, bits and pieces of Field Recordings as well as hints of Prog and an inward looking, autumnal overall feel that makes this album a sweet companion for the cold and dark season. If you need to indulge in melancholia and dark red wine on a regular this one's made for you!
