Here it is. Finally. The first full length - and live! - artist album of the mysterious act Bidol Cath which regularly appeared in the "Little Brutal Rave Bastards Series"-series throughout the last 15 years and furthermore popped up on compilations like Dhyana Records' "Best Of ZDF" or, more recently, the Raketenbasis Haberlandstrasse-released "Referenzkalibrierungsorgasmusmagnettonbandkassettentechno" in 2014. And now, after all these years spent in dark'ish underground vaults, an album. Even better: a cassette album. Containing nine brand new tracks recorded live at one of Bidol Cath's recent and rare live appearances this is a 60 minute example of how hypnotic hyper-stoic, dry but partly reverb-heavy analogue Techno, Mutant Acid and Rhythm  Industrial can get although the music's uncompromising, yet marching nature displays some kind of machine-like brutalism. Music for tanks and industrial powerplants!

Jens Rachut - Herzinfarkt [Major Label Promo]

What happens when a music producer dies? And what do his organs think about it? How do they tell the story that leads to his final curtain call? How's their relationship towards each other and what happened in the last days of the former musical genius Percy Rippenbreaker who's status changed to 'dead' now? All these questions and more are answered in quite a funny way by Mr. Rippenbreaker's well-punished innards like kidneys (one genuine and one implanted), right testicle, lung, heart, eyes, blood, immune system, brain, slightly fascist and militarist gall bladder and his last nerve still alive in "Herzinfarkt", the latest audio drama by Hamburg's author and Punk legend Jens Rachut which is about to be released via the stunning underground Major Label these days. Stressed out by investigations of a federal prosecutor, his stalking mother, constant alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse as well as cutty clients, bailiffs and an anancastic phrasemonging rhyme disorder we'll witness the rapid prostration of the whole system through the innards' regular, dystopian morning reports and psychedelic mementoes whilst Percy Rippenbreaker deals with bad songs, his drug-induced prurience and a team of weirdos before making a u-turn into a healthy, pretty relaxed lifestyle after a massive success. But still, and suddenly, the long years of rock'n'roll lifestyle take their toll, so the collapse is ineluctable, leading into a dramatic climax resulting in a heart attack - "Herzinfarkt" in German - and a final cardiac arrest. A deep, tongue-in-cheek piece and possibly the best audio drama written by Jens Rachut up to this date.

Fuzzylogics - Rodach Schlothauer Weiser [Timescraper Music]

Live sampling as a concept - that's what the three Berlin-based musicians Michael Rodach, Burkhard Schlothauer and Andreas Weiser are aiming at with their new conjunctional project Fuzzylogics that has recently released its album debut via Timescraper Music. Based on the idea of a continous musical stream created of layers and layers of live bits, looped, overdubbed and replayed with additional layers of live improvisation, a steady evolution in sound the Jazz- , Classical and band-savvy triumvirate creates an organic flow yet reflecting the echoes of their musical heritage and - in parts - slightly paying homage to Dub techniques but usually wandering the realms between Dark Ambient, Drones and classical Ambient structures as well as touching the borders of Electronica every now and then whilst a tune like "Miles Groams" even reminisces of Dancehall beatwise before off rhythm percussions and electric guitar improvisations break up familiar structures, steering into new, unexplored terrain and the two bonus tracks come up with a new view on the genre mostly referred to as Future Jazz. Possibly best reflected by the uberly intense, alarming "Sirene" and the cold, alien ritual music of "Pulse-Streams" as well as the dreamy, somnabulant Post-PostRock of the 16+ minutes spanning "I Have A Dream" Fuzzylogics debut presents an interesting approach towards experimental music that sounds electronic but is generated live and in real time. Check.

DiZE 7 - Unabridged [Psychocandies 035 Promo]

Recently released via the Acid-focused Psychocandies-imprint is DiZE 7's new single "Unabridged", sporting four variations of the "Acid Scheme (1 - 4)" plus an additional "Acid Scheme 1" rework crafted by Sascha Müller. With "Acid Scheme 1" DiZE 7 is exploring elastic, gummy and well-hypnotic variations of Acid to a very repetetive and slightly trance-inducing effect,  "Acid Scheme 2" serves short, spiralling MonoAcid loop action whilst "Acid Scheme 3" is on a more ecstatic tip, working its modulations and signature percussions well towards a climax never to come. Finally "Acid Scheme 4" is short trip to la-la-land where glitzy Disco stabs accompany frolicking 303's before Sascha Müller's rework of serves a dark'ish fusion of distorted ChemicalBeats, heavy Broken Industrial-attitude and a shrieking Acid line well-appealing to all those appreciating ultimate primetime madness - imagine an amalgamation of Wink's "Higher State Of Consciousness" and Rob Acid's "Schokodreck" and you're  almost there.

Slow Steve - Steps [Morr Music 134 Promo]

Finally scheduled for May 15th via Morr Music is "Small Steps", the six-track debut EP by Berlin-based Indie/ Indietronica artist Slow Steve who is reaching out to his fans to be with a nice, yet sunny but introvert fusion of blurry melancholia, unedited, lo-fi vocal recordings and immanent, dreamy Pop flavours for late summer nights. Sometimes leaning more towards electronic structures and a straight 4/4 bassdrum like in the playful "Sun Moon", on the other hand creating deep, string-loaden and atmospheric Pop-hits from outer space from just two lines of lyrics that seem to be on repeat over and over again without getting old or boring  - see: "Prince De Combat" - whilst the super kitschy "Vostok" even seems to touch Easy Listening- and Soft Porn Score-spheres but manages to avoid the cliche through the use of vocodered vox. With the instrumental cut "Break My Soul" Slow Steve explores the beauty of tender melodies and heavy distortion, before the final - and quite seductive -  "Aquabed" puts the listener to sleep, provoking pretty erotic dreams due to its narrative baritone vocals. A debut quite diverse - to be loved by Slow Steve's female audience for sure.

Sascha Müller [Supersix Records Extra 031]

It's been a  few  weeks since Sascha Müller's 31st album in his ongoing Supersix Records Extra-series appeared on the circuit but as the Uelsen-based producer serves quality as usual it's still one to go through in detail. Getting things off with the mechanical Techno of "Elektrotherapie" and its Kraftwerk-reminiscing melody the opener is a tune that purists will love for a reason whilst "Freak Show", being a solid Techno tool, keeps the floor nicely in motion just shortly before the prime time floor gets really busy. Blowing "Freaky Horns" surprisingly results in jumpy, rubber-like Acid lines here which are accompanied by pretty funky brass signals, "Gentech" creates functional MonoAcid for tool-loving jocks, the epicly named "In My House" explores deep Techno realms garnished with soft, floating, trance-inducing chords and decent high frequency strings before the German-titled "Kontrolliere" sports dry, hollow drums, vocoder vox and thin, modulated sawtooth synths that provide a more oldskool'ish, sketch'esque feel to the track like a long lost and rediscovered demo. Asian and slightly meditational vibes are served in the early stages of the 13+ minutes "Studio Live Session" which turns into a little clumsy piece of atmospheric Ethno Drum'n'Bass / Breakbeat later unfortunately lacking both a proper groove and bassline but brightens each ravers day with a huge piano break bringing back memories of the 1991 / 1992 era for a reason. More deep Techno vibes are brought to us by "Maga Tekken" which might be considered by some as a sweet closing tune at the end of a long night although the emerging Acid line possibly suggests there's another hour to go on and the precise, stripped down "MonoTone" nicely provides the right amount of fuel for floors to climb up the climax ladder a little further in terms of superfunctional Acid. "More Than" just a little bit of energy is provided by the heavily stomping title of the same name with its thrilling shakers and rolling basslines alongside razor-sharp hi-hats and shrieking big room Techno attitude sending ravers to heaven whilst the bouncy, strangely shuffled "Mystical" tune closes the albums after approx. 70  minutes with masterly crafted strings and a floating melody that's surely about to please all lovers of the sound of Trance ca. 1994. Sweet.

Various Artists - Presseschau Austria [Raketenbasis Haberlandstrasse 010]

Another fresh one and the first two digit release for the Munich-based tape imprint Raketenbasis Haberlandstrasse is the April 1st-released compilation "Presseschau Austria" featuring a bunch of fourteen super sick tracks by Venderstrooik, 480billion, Fabio Crivellaro, Grindmaster Flesh, Cyperkid, Ratte Panaso as well as Jacky Hamels feat. Käse Knös, all providing one or more LoFi ***core tracks to the album with each and every tune named after a (head)line seemingly found in the Austrian yellow press. A concept well-obscure and so it's no wonder that the musical side of things is fully living up to this obscurity - think tracker aesthetics, cassette mastering, bleepy Nintendo Techno, 4bit Drum'n'Wave, mangy Break- / DistortionCore, distorted ElectronicaHop, DarkJungle on hyperspeed and quirky Noize experiments. Limited to only 40 copies worldwide "Presseschau Austria" caters all the muscial needs of those loving the way leftfield in electronic music as well as a proper DIY underground attitude.

Reinhold Friedl - Golden Quinces, Earthed For Spatialised Neo-Bechstein [Bocian Records Promo]

And now to something not (neo)classical although the general set-up of the recently released "Golden Quinces, Earthed For Spatialised Neo-Bechstein" - 1967-born Piano-player Reinhold Friedl performs on one of the last remaining of 150 ever produced  Neo-Bechstein amplified Grand Pianos - might have called for a an epic , approx. 57 minutes journey into this field. But Zeitkratzer-founder Reinhold Friedl wouldn't be Reinhold Friedl if things went on easy and predictable, so instead and according to his special uniques recording techniques he sets out to explore a lot of possibilities of what the slightly enhanced instrument can sound like other than a Grand Piano which - speaking in terms of tiny hammers hitting strings - does not happen very often throughout this composition and if so, only as hypernervous, regularly dissonant background layer appearing within the actual piece. So what's to expect from this Bocian Records release? One track, sporting a runtime mentioned. This basically equals no distractions and a demand for focus in terms of attention which is a challenge in these days so busy but a rewarding one as one can completely get lost in this piece, especially when - approx. halfway through  "Golden Quinces, Earthed For Spatialised Neo-Bechstein" - we experience a slow but still essential change in temper and timbre from busy, buzzing and slightly chaotic, elusory (non)structures meandering around the upper part of the sonic spectrum towards calmer, more bass-focused droning and Dark Ambient, interrupted by metallic, intense alien tones reverberating to a crescendo of like a ripping Metropolis, a humongous machine falling into pieces with the last whizzing echoes of apocalyptic turmoil fading into sweet nothingness, smoldering vagueness and plangent silence over the final eight or ten minutes. Intense as intense can get and way too complex to review in all its rich detail after one or two listening sessions.

Most unfortunately these great Breakcore tunes will be only available digitally and not released on vinyl. Which is sad for a reason.

The Pitch - Frozen Orchestra (Amsterdam) [Sofa Music Promo]

Coming in from Norway and due for release via Sofa Music on April 24th, 2015 is "Frozen Orchestra (Amsterdam)", the forthcoming album effort of the conceptual core quartet named The Pitch, consisting of Boris Beltschun, Koen Nutters, Morten J. Olsen and Michael Thieke, which has been enhanced by six additional musicians including the well-remarkable Okkyung Lee on Cello for the live recording of this two track longplay piece at the Sonic Acts Festival on February 26th, 2012. And yes, talking two tracks - or better: compositions - does mean that both exceed the 20 minutes landmark in terms of playtime here, serving excellent organic and lived-played droning with pretty intense, sometime vibrating, sometimes eerie and threating bass temper all coming to live through electric pump organ - wtf ever this might be  -, bass, vibraphone , clarinet, bass clarinet, cello and revox. Around minute 7.30+ in the first part entitled "Side A" you'll even find an idea of romanticism like the one described by Wolfgang Voigt and his GAS project referring to the special, dampened feel that's related to and associated with the dark German forrests. This feel turns into a more alarming one in the second section, replacing the calmer, romantic sonic vision with a more strident vibe that seems to calm down a little after the first three or four minutes have passed but seems to rise again like a steady swell which is interestingly accompanied by some background noises produced by either the audience or the musicians involved in staging as The Pitch themselves, little coughs and other stuff here and there keeping the listeners attention wide awake whilst being immersed in this highly enjoyable sonic piece that seems to be way shorter than 40 and a bit minutes due to its intriguing nature. Recommended.

Various Artists - Bundesliedermacherwettbewerb Des Gesundheitsministeriums In Hessen 2013 "Ein Blumenstrauß Voller Möglichkeiten" [Raketenbasis Haberlandstrasse 009 Promo]

Released on April 1st, 2015 as cat.no. 009 of the louche imprint Raketenbasis Haberlandstrasse is their new Various Artists compilation "Bundesliedermacherwettbewerb Des Gesundheitsministeriums In Hessen 2013 "Ein Blumenstrauß Voller Möglichkeiten"" which, speaking in terms of Psychedelia and total weirdness, absolutely lives up to its very release date. This super obscure tape release of approx. 30 minutes runtime features a bunch of fourteen songs by artists as unknown as made up like Hans-Joachim Hündgen, Denise Fenker, Feehold Weykens and other non-Ingenious Dillettantes bringing in mostly instrumental lower-fi servings of musical creativity in styles likes tripping Psychedelia with a late 60s touch, German (No)Wave meets Psychobilly Fusion, Piano freestyle, warped wannabe horror flic scores - see especially Stephanie Lara Voss' "Der Unangenehme Geist Aus Hathenfurth An Der Loh" for this description -, elaborate electric organ freestyles on preset rhythms, quirky but tender Post-Industrial meets Easy Listening-Romanticisms, thundering Synth freestyles and even Cartoon-style SchweineRock mixed with unbearably awful sounding 4/4  nobass-drums. Furthermore we'll find clunky CosmoPhonk with loads of reverb action as well as Rave-stabs and Loonie Tunes tripping on... whatever when it comes to Denise Fenker's "Männer Sind Wie Kokusnuss Knackt Man Sie Kommt Milch". There's no way that these artists are legit. Nor is this the result of song contest sponsored by any institution associated with the German government. But it's funny as hell.

3cloneB - Sreottrzeuvtree EP [Psychocandies 034]

Finally there's new stuff to come from the Psychocandies-camp here with this new - and pretty much unpronounceable - three track single produced by 3cloneB. As one would expect from the labels prior releases the main theme to be dealt with here is obviously Acid - served in a stripped down and hypnotic manner by the spiralling, oldskool reminiscing opener "Vega Runner", going down the dark, ultracompressed to distortion, clap heavy alley of minimalism in "Sreottrze" whilst the title track even increases distortion levels to a certain extent, creating an alternative, yet tripping and well-psyched out variation of its predecessor. This is Acid  from hell.

Marsen Jules - The Empire Of Silence [Oktaf 010]

On the circuit since March 10th and released via his very own Oktaf-imprint is Marsen Jules newest album effort named "The Empire Of Silence", a glacial and beautiful eight track Ambient affair with each track named after a certain expression for 'snow' in the Inuit language - including such poetical meanings as 'the idea of snow' or 'forgotten snow' which perfectly compliment the beatless, floating and timeless pulchritude spread out over approx. 55 minutes of runtime. Clearly to be classified as Ambient but - especially with a track like "Skriniya" or "Katiyana" - crossing over into the realms of NeoClassical and / or score-suitable, cinematic sound "The Empire Of Silence" seems to sonically depict the gracious, slow motion movements of glaciers over time, the unseen freeze up of lakes secluded or the accumulation of icey crystals, each unique and never to be seen twice, on metal surfaces throughout the first frosty night of a late fall or early winter, all phenomena seen a thousand times before, yet fascinating still each and every time they appear anew in all their fragile clarity. And so is this album in terms richness of details and carefully layered strings - not new to the conversant Ambient head at all but still a wonderful journey through sonic spheres of ultratranquility.

As one might guess from 16k+ posts within a little more than five years that Twitter is the preferred medium of choice in terms of social media (ab)use for baze.djunkiii the times they are all changing and so - due to more recent events - it was well about time to embrace additional channels in terms of social media so there's three more platforms to expect some activities from in the future as listed below.

baze.djunkiii @ Facebook - was created due to the fact that I took over admin-duties for several pages more recently and, for that reason, needed a page of my own for this. Still I'm not madly in love with the platform itself so this was more set up to channel and repost FB mentions of mine and other stuff instead of being an active channel with original content for the time being.

baze.djunkiii @ Tumblr - subtitled "Random Bits And Pieces" this is exactly what this site is about. Visual content, also related to the Poemes Electroniques project I became part of, the occasional oldskool Rave or Techno track as well as photos from trips or - possibly, at some point - the raving past.

01. Paula Temple - Deathvox [R&S Records 1412]
What a fucking monster of a 12" that serves a view on Techno one would've expected from the R&S Records camp around ca. 1993 / 1995. The title track "Deathvox" is one of the darkest, most energetic Tribal Techno tunes we've come across in ages, sporting short distorted synth signals and conjuring, shamanic basslines to fire up ecstatic ravers, leading them to an ultimate climax whilst "Monstro" revives century-old demons and monsters with its dark, distortion-heavy Industrial approach towards Broken SloMo Techno  ultraviolence. On the flip we'll find "Ful" which fuses enormous warehouse Techno drums with fever'ish Tribal vibes and Trance-inducing, slowly evolving string arrangements perfectly complimenting the pure sonic force of the beats. Huge one.

02. Various Artists - Strategies Against The Body: A Contemporary Survey [DKA Records 011]
Being a vinyl collector and always curious for new stuff I picked this compilation up blindfolded as staff recommendation from the people at the Wax n' Facts recordstore located in the Little Five Points area of Atlanta on my recent one weeks trip to the US working on and performing with the audiovisual art project Poemes Electroniques - some pics and impressions of this trip can be found  on Tumblr and Facebook. Over there I had little time for digging the crates, so I just jumped in for a quick shot, asking for some local electronic music  I probably couldn't find back in Germany and gave it a go which - in terms of this seven tracks compilation - was a great choice. With tunes by acts like High-Functioning Flesh, Tannhäuser Gate, Twins, Xander Harris, Redredred and Tifaret "Strategies Against The Body: A Contemporary Survey" meanders somewhat in between classic Industrial, NuBeat and EBM as well as serving a little dash of SynthWave for those who know. Recommended.

03. Fieberflug - Partikelflug [Flop Beat Disk 0006]
Limited to 150 copies this already hard to find marbled-grey vinyl pressing delivers a six track blueprint of how threatening and deadly Dark / Death Ambient can be. Deep, alarming drones and unsettling, metallic noises accompanied by other more alienating sounds of  unknown origin  perfectly fall into place, creating a gloomy soundtrack for horrific slo-mo nightmares. Be prepared.

04. Wiley - Snakes & Ladders [Big Dada Recordings]
Sometimes I wonder about my relationship to Wiley's more recent releases and talking his new album "Snakes & Ladders" it feels like a deja-vu from his 2012 Big Dada longplay piece "Evolve Or Be Extinct". Briefly skipping through both albums in the record store resulted in a judgement equivalent to 'not necessarily above average' / 'i don't need this to sit in my personal collection' but listening to it more closely and most importantly in one undisturbed session made them grow on me immensely. Speaking in terms of "Snakes & Ladders" it's especially tunes like "Badman", "On A Level", "Step 21", "Lonely ft.JR Writer, Problem,Gudda Gudda & Cam'Ron", "BMO Field" and "Flying *Zdot Remix Feat. Chip" alongside many others that finally got me hooked and do prove that Wiley is still on top of the game, although his hits and bangers seem to be more subtle than ever. Get.

05. DJ Peabird & Da Dancehall Massive present Dancehall Toolz [Breakz R Uz 019]
The man DJ Peabird joins Da Dancehall Massive again to cater another set of great DJ tools to all vinyl spinning and sample savvy mixmasters out there. A ton of classic sounds and vocal snippets on this one known and loved from Dancehall, Reggae and HipHop scenes but more importantly essential in shaping the sonic fingerprint of Jungle, early Drum'n'Bass, BigBeat and UK Garage. If you're spinning vinyl you can't even consider not to own this one.

06. PS Stamps Back vs. Anal Fissi - Homefucking Is Killing Prostitution [Minor Label 032]
Almost ten years have passed since "Homefucking Is Killing Prostitution" has been released as CDr via the Greek label 1000+1 TiLt. Now picked up by Leipzig's Minor Label for a limited to 200 pressings vinyl re-issue with a slightly changed track order these nine tracks on this album, walking the line in between Minimal Electronica, Dark Ambient, Deep Broken Techno and Clicks'n'Cuts , do prove that quality electronic music never grows old.

09. The Traxxmen - Nothing's Stopping [Muzique Records 111]
Another re-release from the thrilling nineties that's about to please all collectors cravings. Originally put on the circuit via Armando's Chicago-based Muzique Records back in 1994 we see The Traxxmen a.k.a. Eric Martin, Gant-man, Paul Johnson and Robert Woods exploring the realms of pumping, stripped down and pretty track'ish House music, serving massive hits like the uplifting and stab-heavy "Here We Go Again", the super anthemic, hormone-driven "In Yo Mouf"  and the massive wildpitch jam "Emergency". Raw, oldskool and still essential.

10. Wardrobe Memories - Life After Suicide [Feline/Feral 001 Promo]

Wavemultiplier - 4040 [Clang 023 Promo]

Put on the circuit on March 23rd via the well experimental and adventurous Clang imprint is "4040", the new album by Swedish artist Marcus Wrangö released under his production alias Wavemultiplier. As one already was able to guess from a little teaser video that announced the release by serving some excellent 96 seconds of BrokenTechno, the album's seven tracks focus exactly on this kind of sound - darkish, dry and defo referring to the magic of technoid primetime dancefloors but with a more complex twist, stripped down, stumbling grooves and a feel of compression going a little too far, causing frequency flutters and crackling, decaying textures uncommon for this kind of Techno music.  Imagine the mesmerizing feel of Traversable Wormhole-productions amalgamated with the clean, uberly compressed Industrial aesthetics of Pan Sonic ca. 1999 / 2000 and you'll find what "4040" is all about - pure latenight dancefloor devastation. Dasha Rush - Sleepstep: Sonar Poems For My Sleepless Friends [Raster Noton 158 Promo]

Released in early March via the great Raster-Noton imprint is "Sleepstep: Sonar Poems For My Sleepless Friends", a sixteen track piece dedicated to those suffering from insomnia already announced on these pages earlier this year that's revealing a new, previously unheard of side in Dasha Rush's work. Better known for her Techno productions that've moved dancefloor crowds over the past decade "Sleepstep" sees the Russian producer explore deeper realms of dark'ish Ambient tones, ominous Electronica, threatening Advanced Electro and more dreamy, kinda subaquaticly floating beauty to be found in tracks like the sweet Deep Listening experience "Sleep Ballade", a rhythmic yet beatless lullaby for ambient ravers and musical connaisseurs. With "Antares" electronic music starts to float like an endless ocean of dreams, "Abandoned Beauties And Beasts" brings in dangerously buzzing Death Electro with a nervous twist, "Lumiere Avant Midi" serves calm, ever repetetive and - in a positive sense - sleep-inducing beauty and so does the droney, string-heavy (Neo)Classical Ambient approach of "Sail Away To Her" which touches the borders of abstract opera in terms of the use of angelic vocals that, in parts, evoke memories of Cosmic Baby's legendary Techno Opera "Futura". "Lucy In The Sky, Lost Diamonds" combines swinging, elastic Electronica grooves with Dasha Rush's distant, blurred vocals, an uberly seductive abuse of bass and a melodic main motif, "Fog, Dogma And Bread" brings Drone thunder and brooding atmospheres whilst machine-generated sounds are wandering through abandoned  Post-Industrial factory sites and "A Minute After The War" perfectly depicts the heavenly relief after a devastating conflict of nations has come to an end using calm Piano Ambient tones before "100 Hearts" serves a pretty abstract, yet super thrilling view on technoid beat structures for late night sets in large warehouse parties - possibly the most remarkable track featured on the great effort that "Sleepstep: Sonar Poems For My Sleepless Friends" is. More melodic ambience is to be found in the shimmering "Micro Universe"and the closing tune outer space finally revives the subaquatic Ambient flow for Drexciyans and other deep space creatures.
