Recently released via the unpredictable and undeniably leftfield Raketenbasis Haberlandstrasse is this limited C15 split tape edition which is the very first release for both of the young aged, female Berlin-based artists Justine Falschsaur and Özlem Schonskuttel which are bringing a little light and hope to the dark, serious and predominantly white middle-aged men ruled realms of the experimental music scene. Whilst Özlem Schonskuttel's "Tankless Rinnai" on the A-side takes care of beatless wobbly, ever moving LFO bleep modulations with a 70's sci-fi'esque movie twist we see Justine Falschsaur's "Beacon Carrier" exploring deeper, gnarly and hexed spheres before funny little minimalistic computer melodies take over and provide a highly abstract soundtrack for super advanced dancefloors and late night nerd raves which are documented by a little field recording cut a the end of side B. Twisted like a double helix. Nice.

Tre Mission - Stigmata [Big Dada Promo]
When it comes to Grime in Toronto / Canada it's the man Tre Mission representing for years and finally he has his first full length album ting on the streets via Ninja Tune's sister imprint Big Dada since earlier this month and it's defo a good ting for sure. Serving a wide range of heavy collabo tunes like "Real Grind" featuring the heavyweight voices of the angelic Andreena and mighty Wiley on microphone duties, the crowd murking crime scene cut "Rally" featuring JME or the super lively, PostJungle-influenced killer clash "Jack Pot" featuring Merky Ace that's spelling S-T-R-E-E-T G-R-I-M-E in capitals stretched out over four minutes, Tre Mission is on fire telling sad hood stories on Caribbean-influenced slow jams like "Jessica" alongside the Canadian rap artist K-OS while he goes even tender IndiePop vs. HipHop with the semi-acoustic "Money Make (Her)" which is the second Andreena feature on "Stigmata", a tune that even might break into more commercial realms for being a perfect single that's also able to sneak onto daytime radio even. With "Get Doe" featuring Saukrates Tre Mission caters HipHop on a psyched out stop-and-go level that's about to trick a lot of DJ's out there, "Boy In The Corner" is about to please the bass loving Trap crowd as well as sex-dripping late night dancers on the hunt whilst "Milly" sends Grimeists to heaven with super low 808s, sick beats and a oriental sounding synth line calling out for a reload. On repeat for a reason.

The Bug - Angels & Devils [Ninja Tune Promo]
Heavyweight. A monster. An epic piece of bass and noise, sparse in parts, packed and super condensed in others, featuring angelic voices like Liz Harris and Inga Copeland, Dancehall goddesses like Miss Red and Warrior Queen as well as fierce MCs like Manga and Flowdan on fire - this is what Kev Martin's latest and freshly released album assault "Angels & Devils" is all about. A climaxing, tense, athmospheric and pre-apocalyptic tale that serves its most intense and thrilling tune "Pandi" without a single beat but on an overdose of gravel, ecclesiastic, moanful organ chords only accompanied by simple hi-hats in its last quarter, a sonic dwellpoint before the ruminant, mantra'esque collaboration "Save Me" alongside Gonjasufi announces the advent of death, chaos and hatred with the ultra-compressed Industrial Dancehall killer "The One" which sees Flowdan spitting on peak level whilst military drumrolls, darkest walls of sound and megaton-heavy bassdrums turn down the building. It's a war on the streets outside no-one is safe from and The Bug is firing from heavy ordnances here beatwise before a 30 seconds Noize and feedback excess leads into the next anthem and introduces a new level of Grime music - we call it DistoGrime. The intro clarion sequence of "Function feat. Manga" calls out for a rewind and floors go bonkers when the distorted basswaves break their way through the speakers like a stampede. Bass wars continue on coldest sci-fi low frequency modulations whilst Death Grips is on microphone duties in "Fuck A Bitch" - a tune set out to destroy any EDM rave in seconds due to ultimate sickness. More Flowdan power is to be found on the quartertime Post-NoizeDub apocalypse "Fat Man" drastically describing the urban killing fields of today and building a bridge between the bass and the sedative-induced DeathRap genre of the states. With "Fuck You" we see Warrior Queen making another bold, unquestionable lyrical statement before Flowdan is closing the circle on "Dirty", opening the DistoGrime banger with a remarkable line: "Everythings not ok, though..." and this is what The Bug is setting out to express with "Angels & Devils" for a reason. Essential album. No excuses for not getting it.

Ital - Endgame [Planet µ Promo]
To be unleashed on September 8th via Planet µ is "Endgame", Daniel Martin-McCormick's third full length album assault on Mike Paradinas' seminal imprint under his Ital alias, a vital and ever floating one for sure. Located on the borders of Techno and other 4/4-based dancefloor music the brooklynite evolves his formula of creating blurred, frolicking and fractured dancefloor visions on possibly sub-standard software grounds to a stunning effect. Whilst floating and well-fitting into the niche of so-called Intelligent Techno super-hypnotic tunes like "Coagulate" or the effervescent, Synth- and Detroit-reminiscing "Concussion" present an extrordinary, peregrine and partly even extraterrestrial vibe like hearing echoes of electronic dance music of the future or from another planet, featuring familiar patterns but still unheard alien tones, sporting thrilling dancefloor rocking tunes like the huge spiralling, chromatic Acid-emulating, ever climaxing ClubTechno workout "White II" or even atmospheric, Post-AmbientTrance-like elements that turn out to fall together as one of the sweetest closing tunes after a long night out we've heard in a while and also the albums final cut "Oche" seems to be a sweetly tripping, organic and all embracing affair that sends grooving punters safely into the ultraworld. Check.

Fred Bigot - La Voix De La Route [Les Disques On Rotin Reunis / No School Today Promo]
A label collaboration between Les Disques On Rotin Reunis and No School Today this 10" is, the latest output of the experimental-friendly Fred Bigot which we've been following since his very early untitled 12"es released around 1999 / 2000. And as far as experimentalism goes the vinyl issue of this one - unfortunately we've only got the promo CDr version sitting in our drive - takes this attitude in to its physical manifestation with the tracks, two on the A-side and three on the flip, those being cut as parallel spiral grooves so one cannot predict exactly to which of these tunes one will be listening to when putting the needle to the record. Which is great for a reason and so is the music - on A1 still undeniably Fred Bigot due to the trademark foundation of gnarly, electronic, straightforward and hypnosis-inducing signature rhythms both reminiscing of Wave and Industrial alike, sucking ppl in like quantum physics beyond the event horizon of a super massive black hole whilst A2 seems to be based on electronic didgeridoo emulations or - fitting to the concept of the record - reworked field recordings from his two-month road trip to US being the starting point of these pieces. The quirky, kinda akward B1 feels like a cut, paste and layer work built from bits and pieces of John Carpenter's soundtracks and scores, B2 pays homage to very early Kraftwerk pieces with vocodered vocals and etheral, ever moving modulations and finally we see a whole zoo's animal bunch go apeshit within the plunderphonic'esque field recording mashup of B3 which is a more fever'ish, ritualistic experience only the headstrong might stand. To be released on September 21st and defo recommended for those more experimental headed amongst the readers of these pages.

Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music: First Full Instrumental Version Performed Live By Zeitkratzer [Zeitkratzer Productions Promo]
They did it. Zeitkratzer really did it. After a decade of featuring Lou Reed's legendary and defo most abstract, demanding album "Metal Machine Music" as a part of their neverending performance tours here's the first full recording of the whole album, performed as instrumental version by a full orchestral setting including clarinets, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, percussion, violin, violoncello and double bass to a result that can only be described as ineffible. Possible as ineffible and intangible as Mr. Reed's original album - here presented as a thrilling, ever changing, Drone-led cacophonia, a musical push button factory on tilt mode, an experimental sonic information overload, a jungle of NeoClassical and Avantgarde structures that are, despite their flickering, rattling nature, floating calmly along the banks of unexplored waters, unveiling versant glimpses of melodies amongst thunderous roars, echoes of familiaritiy in abandoned, but abundantly rich and sumptuos acoustic spheres for those being schooled by musical experimentalism and the works of modern avantgarde composers. But also those yet new to this field are recommended to check out Zeitkratzer's interpretation for a reason.

Sascha Müller [Sascha Müller Music 1000009]
Well, if you're kickin' out one release after another for years and years like the mighty man Sascha Müller does you're well likely to run short on track names at one point or another so it might be a clever idea to start to name tracks just in their order of appearance - "No1", "No2"... you know the deal. This is exactly what happens on this six track release that has just been put on the circuit this week and - as one might well guess - running short on names does not equal a lack of creativity here. Albeit staying mostly close to a dry, minimalistic and stripped down technoid vision here which would've well fit into the context of The Advent's badgering Highspeed Techno of the late 90s or a lot of releases on Tresor Records it's pretty clear that there's still a lot of stuff to explore in this specific field of electronic dance music that caters tool'ish fodder to all them real DJ's out there, able to fast mix and cut, blend and cause havoc with just two (or three...) turntables and a mixer whilst battering the right barrage of cold dancefloor weapons towards a breathless, sweat soaked audience. Tunes able to make a punters night the best one ever devoid of his or her individual recognition of a single tune. Classy.

Jaakko Eino Kalevi - Tecno Souvlaki (Official Music Video)
These days seems to be good days for the art and craft of animation videos. Christine Gensheimer provides wonderful work here, perfectly accompanying the playful musical approach of Jaakko Eino Kalevi's Electronic Jazz meets Skweee fusion. On repeat.
Dels - RGB (Produced by Micachu & Kwes.)
That's some sick shit. DELS is gonna be back with a new album on October 30th, 2014. According to this preview it's gonna be a proper one. Noice.

Moire - Shelter [Werkdiscs Promo]
Scheduled for release on August 15th via Werkdiscs is "Shelter", the diverse and well thrilling album debut of the still mysterious Moire who's dealing with the endless possibilities of foggy, deeply athmospheric and yet club-related 4/4 bassdrum-based realms on this longplay piece. Introducing his more laid back, tender and dreamy side with the albums opener "Attitude" the robotic vocals and surreal feel of "Dali House feat. Bones" that'll surely be loved by those digging the sound of Burial for his echoing visions of PostRave clubland take over heaving Techno floors in solid concrete shelters for a reason before Moire gives them people room to breathe, coming up next with playful, clap-heavy and superdry Armchair Techno as well as morphed vocal bits on "Elite / Hands On". These vocal bits are also an essential part of "Infinity Shadow", a straightforward Tech- / Future Garage fusion with a gladsome twist and sweet, lonely piano tones covered in crackling noises and audio dust whilst "No Gravity" transfers a similar vibe into a sweet'n'deep House context, providing slightly biased bassdrums for late night rides - a tune recommended to those being in love with the aesthetics of Moodyman and the likes of. Tuning in to "No Gravity" things get more lively again with a swinging, UK Funky-reminiscing intro part, nice club tempo and effervescing synth cascades setting the tone for unforgettable dancefloor moments - defo the most complex and Motor City-related tune on "Shelter" although there's not much of a Detroit Techno emulation to be found in here. Taking crowds to the "Stars" we see hard-pumping wildpitch House break through, providing razor-sharp hihat work, off kilter filters and well-spooky, haunting vocal twists alongside raw and uncut drum machine madness. Steadily bubbling Acid sporting seductive male vocals by Charlie Tappin is to be found on the hypnotic, ever climaxing "Rings" that breaks up its immanent tension with gleaming angelic string arrangements that seem announce the advent of heavenly forces before the final cut named "Mr. Figure" serves a menu of beautiful subaquatic Electronica and echoes of Detroit Techno that'll surely please all musical connaisseurs and esepcially Drexciya disciples for a reason. Nice one. Get.

Sascha Müller - Death Rolling Of A Mouse EP [Psychocandies 025]
We've already reblogged the preview files for this EP on the #scrt_brln tumblr project a few days ago but as Sascha Müller always provides quality in electronic dance music which shall not be mixed up with creepy and crappy EDM here we're up for a little review feature as well. Although we've got exactly no clue what that "death rolling"-thing in the split-in-two-parts title track might be we are fully aware of its musical qualities - deep, analogue Techno with a tripping Acid twist in the grinding, well hypnotizing first part, whilst the second cut is a spiralling, feedback heavy affair touching the borderline between Acid and AcidTrance but serving a lot of weird lo-fi robot sounds instead of uplifting strings or drum rolls. More spiralling, slightly psychedelic HypnoAcid is served on "The Value Of Death" - an ever climaxing journey of approx. 7 minutes length whilst the closing tune "Untitled 7" turns out to by a haunting piece of super ecstatic PsyTech with short Trance-inducing acidic loops and ritualistic drums beaten by shamen. Perfect for a trip-inducing night out in Goa / India.

Rutger Zuydervelt - Stay Tuned [Baskaru 031 Promo]
A symphony in A droned. An multitrack adaptation of an installation concept. A 50 minutes - or 3000 seconds - long musical exploration of the note A, released via the French label Baskaru and partially executed by the likes of Oren Ambarchi, Anna Rose Carter, Masajohi Fujita, Heleen van Haegenborgh, Nils Frahm, Hild Sofie Talfjord, Keiichi Sugimoto and many many more summing up to a whole of 153 artists - each of them performing a steady A note on his or favorite instrument with a range from sampled trumpet to violin, acoustic guitar, piano, voice, harmonium, prepared piano, cello, zither, double bass and way beyond, an ensemble of 153 single layers amalgamated into a huge, hypnotizing meditation on one single musical expression and a fascinating take on what's possibly the most thrilling vision of acoustic zen released in 2014. Favorite album of the month. For a reason.

Sascha Müller [Sascha Müller Music 100007]
Sascha Müller just unleashed a new three track single on his very own label Sascha Müller Music these days and once again he's on a straight 4/4 tip with this one. The first track named "Katapult" comes up with frolicking synth lines, an Electro-infused snare and a lovely little melody that - leaving out the tempo aspect here - should work pretty well with today's dancefloor kids craving for a bit of sweetness and romanticism whilst grooving along to bubbling Acid modulations at countless open air fests all over the place. With "Amphiler" things are getting darker when Mr. Müller focuses on a stripped down version of his favourite musical genre and carves out a tweaked and twisted piece of tripping HypnoAcid from only a few, perfectly matched elements whilst the "Planet 2885Hg87" is on a more psychotic tip of more than 9 minutes runtime, a minimalistic yet thrilling Techno workout with climaxing, off-kilter synth stabs and weird, squealing feedbacks surely to be highly appreciated by followersof Jeff Mills and his Axis label - Techno purism for those who know.

01. Alte Sau - Alte Sau [Majorlabel]
See german review for details...
02. Wen [Keysound Recordings Whitelabel]
Nice Grime whitelabel release on Keysound Recordings. On the A-side Wen serves a sparse gangster refix of Dizzee Rascal's "Strings Hoe" catering quite a lot of Sublow references whilst "Signal" on the flip is on a military snare heavy crime scene vibe with twisted vocal bits and dark'ish overall feel. One of them tunes probably hammered by the likes of Footsie or Dexplicit for a reason. Killer.
03. Phil Kieran - Going There / Getting Away [Hotflush Recordings]
Seeing Phil Kieran releasing on Hotflush is quite a surprise. Seeing him catering the first Hotflush Recordings release since 2006 that finds its way into my collectin is even a bigger one. But the full on Rave-stab flavored TechHouse of "Going There" as well as the killer breakbeats of "Getting Away" - that should match perfectly with the beats that turned Josh Wink's "Higher State Of Consciousness" into an all time classic - are way too seductive to leave 'em at the record store. The flipside holds additional mixes by Richy Ahmed and Ryan Elliott which both provide proper craftwork for House / TechHouse floors but its the original versions to go for for a reason. Nice one.
04. [DROWNED 001 Whitelabel]
A new label from the North German town of Bremen that brings in four tracks produced by the like of Alias & Alias, Qnete and Tobs on this stamped whitelabel in a silkscreen print cover which - most obviously - draw their influences from classic Rave culture of the early 90s, original modulation-heavy Techno and dark, underground club nights in abandoned warehouses. A proper start for a new imprint. Nice.
05. Perseus Traxx - Circuit Control: The Crystal Issue Cycle 2 [Solar One Music]
Green, one sided vinyl release featuring two brand new tracks from the vaults of the Perseus Traxx archive. "Fresh Start" is one hell of a tune for late night, pheromone fueled Chicago sessions with deep, jacking stabs and uberly seductive vocal works accompanied by decent Acid flavors bubbling. With "Circuit Control" on A2 Perseus Traxx are riding a more primetime-oriented vibe, catering a modernist view on classic AcidHouse and jacking 303s on top of super dry 808 riddims. Acieeed!
06. EXS - These Days: The Crystal Issue Cycle 1 [Solar One Music]
Nice blue vinyl introduces the first issue of the new Solar One sub- or sister-series here which comes up with Detroit driven strings, slightly tribalistic percussions and sawtooth filtered synth motifs on the A-sides title track whilst "K.I.Y." turns out to be a more punchy, yet playful, anthemic and defo motor city driven affair for all those appreciating the sound of Octave One and the likes of. Recommended.
07. Ich Wollte, Ich Könnte - At The Gate [Treue Um Treue 015]
Limited to 366 copies this gold vinyl 7" was already released back in 2010 by the fascinating Treue Um Treue label which are providing a deep, melancholia driven fusion of SynthPop, MinimalWave and Synthbient for their dedicated followers with this one. Four tracks of saddening beauty, made for intimate, autumnal listening moments.

Nogociella. - Satanismo Di Basilica Concattedrale Di San Marino [Voluntary Whores 015 Promo]
It's been a while since the last release of the tape-focused Experimental / Drone / Noize imprint Voluntary Whores has been sitting in our P.O. box but now their cat.no. 0015 popped up a few weeks ago, a quadruple pack of neon orange glow in the dark tapes containing the latest epos of the mysterious - probably Italian - female sound-wrecking experimentalist Nogociella stretched over a total running time of four hours. Starting the journey into "Satanismo Di Basilica Concattedrale Di San Marino" with the first tape of the pack - all of them are numbered in Roman numerals - we'll find ourselves immersed into ritualistic, at the same time angelic and in parts epic and kinda Vangelis-reminiscing Dark Ambient with the first few tracks before things drift into Drone-led spheres and the first ceremonial vocals appear towards the end of the A side of Tape I. Flipping the tape one is greeted by whining animal sounds and vocals in reverse that are accompanied by solemnly floating deep frequency waves and tender string constructions, enters realms of near silence where only static noises and faraway hissing winds provide the soundtrack for further rituals committed whilst the black mass progresses and the tension mounts. With the intense, but still less dark'ish Ambient tune "Salvezza" closing the first chapter of this album we see first signs of relief as this piece seems to announce the advent of holy spirits and unearthly, yet overall peaceful glory. Tape II holds a whole of two tracks only, each of them stretched out over a whole side. Whilst "Chiedo" drifts along calm and cushy Ambient shores, sailing on seas of decent strings and fishing the occasional dreamy piano tones here and there the flipside "Compleanno Di Michelangelo" presents a more intense approach in its very first minutes before the drones fade away for a bit and return in a more athmospheric, still fraught way, electrified like the last hour prior to a summers thunderstorm and yet thundering roars and screeching industrial noises from afar break their way through the viscous layers being a home to some calm piano work, too. But throughout the runtime of "Compleanno Di Michelangelo" we see the thunderous roars taking over, turning the calm into chaos and providing a heavy compendium of grinding Noize like a horde of demons unleashed until - quite suddenly - everything breaks into screaming silence at the very end of the tape. With the start of Tape III Christine Nogociella unveals the calm, laid back and drone-oriented side of satanic rituals with Deep Listening Music and bright, sanguine string layers emulating sunrise romanticism before some slightly rhythmic patterns start building tension again, accompanied by spooky vocal snippets and what seemingly is to be called reverse recording action. Whilst the tape progresses we even see heavy Rhythm Industrial-reminiscing beats appear - the first real percussive structures throughout "Satanismo Di Basilica Concattedrale Di San Marino"- which pay not only homage to the mentioned genre but also to Aphex Twin's darkest, most destructive and distorted moments whilst sonically depicting evil. Turning the tape calmness and relaxation take over again with classic, ever moving Ambient passages which seem to be referring to the ultra-low-freq Drone works of artists like Francisco Lopez or the extended, minimalistic explorations of acts like Tarkatak - both highly rated and applaused within the experimental music world. But these minimalistic structures are not the only ones to be found on B III here, things tend to get even melodic with suprisingly vernal beauty that'll surely appeal to lovers of the long gone, formerly Berlin-based Interference Records which once was responsible for Ambient and ChillOut transmissions to the population of this planet and beyond, whilst later musical musings lead into more alienated Dark Ambient terrain. Opening the final Tape IV with "Preparazione" we experience heavenly voices and choruses that are unfurling over dense, buzzing Dark Ambient and fever'ish, ritualistic booms whilst more parochial, ecclesiastic Death Ambient explorations and field recorded voices - probably taken from sermons - are emphasizing on the gravely, withdrawn and abstracted feel that's half-hypnotizing and half-puzzling to those who never dealt with outerworldly forces that announce their multi-dimensional presence through various crackles and sizzling noises to be found in the opening work of the IV B side - the final part of this massive extended album pack - that is, although being a kinda exhausting listening experience due to its pure length, recommended to those who've been embracing darkness, the psyched out thrill for unproven parapsychological research, interviews, field recordings and death for a reason.
Reinhold Friedl / Franck Vigroux - Tobel [Alamuse 005 Promo]
Soon to be unleashed via the French experimental imprint Alamuse is the approx. 36 minutes long collaborational release of "Tobel" - a one track album in which Reinhold Friedl is responsible for so-called Inside Piano sounds whilst Franck Vigroux takes care of the Electronics part which basicly results in an electrifying, high frequency buzz of a uberly sterile nature that's setting the tone for the first minutes before moonhowling dogs - or wolves - pave ways for the unsettling, haunting and nerve wrecking clang of numberless small metallic bars, the sound of an army of miniature cowbells attached to millions of lemmings on their way over the edge of the cliff into death whilst their final breath is announced by squeaking noise eruptions. After this at minute 12: nearly dead silence, only a few rusty cables moving, abandoned hydraulics blown by the wind and echoes of cataclysmal drums afar. A threatening, alarming sense of alienation, of desert and death overrun by an electric storm that might be described as second part of this album. But also this one comes to an abrupt, surprising halt that bestows a few sound eruptions and more than a minute of near silence on the listener before widely scattered drums and strangely displaced violins announce further progression into abandoned, haunted areas. And it's especially this final sequence of "Tobel" that - without further information given on the actual purpose or conceptual direction of "Tobel" - leaves one thinking about how and whether these parts fall together right in a properly connected way or if they're just cut outs taken from separate sessions bond together for unknown reasons in hindsight. A puzzling affair.
