Hyboid - Where Androids Come To Die [Astro Chicken 005 Promo]

There's news from outer space. The Hyboid landed again on planet Astro Chicken and he brought back tales about androids, vampires and drugs - all told in a universal language that's called music, in dialects one recognizes as beautiful Synth land- or better soundscapes, spaced out Electro and dreamy, melodious SynthWave, all printed on a limited run of 200 pure white vinyl plates and served with a dancefloor in mind. This is extraterrestial and not timebound, referring to an analogue past and a computerized future. After listening to this album I still don't know "Where Androids Come To Die" but I do know that they leave for a better place and a bright safe haven. Let's follow them and find out what's behind the data horizon.

[Shhhh Records 004 Testpress]

Scheduled for december 16th via Shhhh Records is their new release, the last one planned for 2zero11 and number zerozero4 in their catalogue. As there's only a testpress without any further information spinning on my turntable right now we'll be stuck to the music and not into details like artist or track names. On the A-side there's one long, nearly epic journey into the realms of DubTechno to be found - a tune that seems to run for ages and features a lot of live jam characteristics, like being recorded in one go without any further editing. If this is right the artist - whatever the name may be - definitely knows his tools and engines inside out. The flipside holds two more tracks for those who love their DubTechno from the heart, B1 even includes some seductive, looped vocal snippets that provide more of a housey feel whilst B2 is on classic tip, slow, floating, ever evolving and a perfect tune for the last hour of a long long night out.

Adultnapper feat. Black Light Smoke - Idiot Fair [Poker Flat Recordings 124 Promo]

This one's quite a weird one, especially for a Poker Flat Recordings-release and I'm still not sure what to make of it after listening to their forthcoming release for dozens of times now although the beats are pumping dark and nicely and Mr. Adultnapper once again manages to hypnotize a willing crowd with his very stripped down style that does not need many musical elements to keep punters excited and to pull 'em into the long dark tunnel that is the night out. So far so sweet but as soon as Mr. Black Light Smoke raises his voice I feel puzzled - seriously. His voice sounds like Prince a.k.a Symbol a.k.a. TAFKAP here. Or at least like a TAFKAP imitator which does not make things better anyway. I don't want that, I don't want a squeezing voice to puzzle me although I see it's working on the floor and I do realize that this tune - somehow - is catchy as fuck, that people won't forget this tune easily. But still - I'd rather prefer an instrumental cut of "Idiot Fair" on the flip instead of the featured remix by H.O.S.H. which, although well-crafted and dancefloor fitting, includes the vocal parts as well. Hmpf.

Sticker Love & World Domination: Mannheim

Seen in Germany's so-called Drum'n'Bass capital. There's love all over the place.

Echonomist feat. Mz Sunday Luv - Real Love [Dessous Recordings 106 Promo]

Whilst the greek economy is deep in debt the greek Echonomist is doing exports, music exports to be more exact and what comes out of this is good. Featuring the vocal talents of Berlins Mz Sunday Luv he serves two different versions of his tune "Real Love" here, both to be released via Steve Bugs Dessous Recordings in the near future and both made to please those who love seeing DeepHouse and Disco crossover on top of a sexy BrokenHouse skeleton with heavy claps and a seductive funky-ass bassline - a hyper-sexed fusion for intimate venues, hidden deep in the worlds red light districts and a weapon for those very special late night moments that experienced DJs love to death when everyone's grooving and no-ones asking for names no more. That's for the so-called "Revisited" version whilst the original is not that broken but still sexy as fuck. Plus: there's an additional remix crafted by Mr. San Soda to be found which is speeding things up, adds a sweet little synth-hook that's simple but quite uplifting, introducing sweat, sex and ecstacy to the floors of today like the real HUGE House music anthems did in the mid 90s. Nice.

Birdy Nam Nam - Defiant Order [Savoir Faire / Sony France Promo]

What kind of an evolution - Birdy Nam Nam have started out coming from a HipHop- / Scratch- / DJ- / Turntableism-background , even won the DMC World DJ Team Championship with their crew Scratch Action Hero in 2000 and now, eleven years later they come up with an album totally electronic, influenced by Fidget, Dubstep, ElectroHouse and the french thing that was recognized as NuRave some years ago. Within all that dancefloor focus there's still room for eclecticism and, if one listens closely, influences from their turntable-based history can still be found, short cuts and parts that sound like re-processed scratches but to pick and analyse these should be left to trainspotters and production enthusiasts. Talking production - one man joined the pack of four at the studio without whom "Defiant Order" wouldn't have sounded the way it does now: Para One, french producer known amongst the electronic scene for his diverse works on Institubes and recognized by a wider audience for the soundtrack of "Naissance Des Pieuvres" / "Water Lilies" on the same label. What's very clear after listening to "Defiant Order" a few times is the fact that it takes time to fully explore and discover the different levels and the un-obvious deepness this album has to offer. That's why it has to be called a grower and can't properly be judged in a review only a few days after its release. Give it a try and if you don't like it at first try again in a week or two, you might be surprised how things have changed then.

Monoton - Skweeelicious [STRTMIX008]

Our friend Monoton of Kreislauf.org just released a Skweee mixtape via Saturate Records which serves, although personally I'm not the biggest fan of Skweee, a good overview why all the fuzz is happening about that genre these days. Check, listen and choose if you like it if you haven't heard of Skweee yet.

Sticker Love & World Domination: Live Music Hall / Cologne

This one's for the smokers - and yes, it seems like Cologne kids love my bass. Another sticker floating around which was seen and captured by the head of Shhhh Records. Btw - there's spooky things going on their label website, things that cannot be explained...

Auxilium Tek - Cascadin [KRD Music]

Scheduled for December 9th via KRD Music is "Cascadin", the new five track release of the Austria-based artist Auxilium Tek which explores musical fields of Ambient, Electro and Armchair Techno with this one and serves good vibes for ChillOut rooms or decent home listening sessions. "Cascadin" surely will be loved by those who've been following the german Elektrolux label throughout the late 90s and early 2000s and listening to tracks like "New Home" I'm quite worried that todays party or rave promoters do hardly have rooms for this kind of music anymore. There must be space for beauty.

90s Rave Radio

News flying in today have it that Sascha Müller is about to launch his new radio show "90s Rave Radio" on the german local station Ems Vechte Welle on 25th of November, 23oo. As the name suggests the show focuses on the heydays of electronic dance music and I'm pretty sure Mr. Müller is about to drop anthem after anthem released in that era.

Nördliches Emsland / Papenburg und Umgebung: 94,55 MHz

Forward To The Past 2: The Acid Flashback [Poker Flat Recordings Promo]

Aciiiieeeed! Large tings are gwaan on Steve Bugs very own Poker Flat Recordings, a label that has always been clearly influenced by the sound and groove of early Chicago and now takes a huge step back in time releasing "Forward Tp The Past 2: The Acid Flashback", a compilation that, although all tracks are new and exclusively produced for this release by artists like Snuff Crew, Sasse, Owain K, Vincenzo & Tyson Ballard and many others, promotes the original Acid and AcidHouse sound that caused an earthquake in dance music in the late 80s. Play one of these tunes alongside classics like "Fantasy Girl", "This Is Acid", "That Shits Wild" or "Hot Hands" and you won't feel any difference in sound and attitude, in analogue warmth or hypnotizing dancefloor functionality. Fully recommended by someone that has been brought up on a diet of AcidHouse in early years when being in primary school still. More smiley shirts on the floor, please!

Egotronic - Macht Keinen Lärm [Audiolith Testpress]

Recently released via Hamburgs finest Audiolith-imprint is "Macht Keinen Lärm", the latest album by the Berlin-based ElectroPunk outfit Egotronic which is coming as a massive package of - of course - leftwing bangers and dancefloor smashers accompanied by a handful of totally absurd snippets taking a closer look at life in the Egotronic universe, snippets that feature bookers, stage technicians, drivers and even Audiolith main head Lars Lewerenz who apologizes for releasing "Macht Keinen Lärm". Got it? If you've been following Egotronic for a while now you'll be glad to hear that their 2007-released album "Lustprinzip" and the 2008 smash "Egotronic" are the most important reference points in the bands discography when it comes to comparing "Macht Keinen Lärm" with previous releases although a few more Punk-/ NDW-influences can be found here. If you still haven't heard of Egotronic yet check out "Der Sonne Hinterher", "Manchmal" and the anthemic IndiePop tune "Planet Disco" and you'll be infected within less than a minute. Fans are about to buy this one blindfolded, all others are about to follow soon as the first ever chart entry for Egotronic already proved.

Trentemøller - Reworked / Remixed [In My Room Promo]

Recently released via In My Room is Trentemøllers massive 2x12" pack entitled "Reworked / Remixed" which contains nine remixes of tracks taken from his 2010 Post- / DesertRock album "Into The Great Wide Yonder" crafted by the cream of the crop of (electronic) music producers. Apart from one rework done by Mr. Trentemøller himself and two instrumental cuts ("Neverglade" & "Tide") names involved are Modeselektor, UNKLE, I Blame Coco and even his greatness Andrew Weatherall, the man behind the legendary Two Lone Swordsmen. Despite the fact that all these names are - or have been - working on the forefront in different eras, even decades in the evolution of electronic music there's one common sense amongst them: keeping up with the lone, wide feel of the original tunes, no matter how far or different the transformation within the remix work goes or might be. Melancholia is here to stay and due to that "Reworked / Remixed" is a nice add-on for all those who loved "Into The Great Wide Yonder" and they might be surprised that there's a different but still well fitting face to tunes like "...Even Though You're With Another Girl" or "Sycamore Feeling". Especially "...Even Though You're With Another Girl" sung by I Blame Coco on top of slow'ish but intense tribal drums develops a very special kind of magic and despair, same goes for Andrew Wheatheralls psyched-out ElectroCosmic-affair that "Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider Go!!!" turns into - a piece that could be released on DC Recordings as well alongside works out of the studios of Emperor Machine or Padded Cell. Add this to your collection as soon as your dealer stocks it.

Anne Anderson - 3 Dicks EP [Super 6 Records 071.5]

Fresh and upcoming via Super 6 Records is Anne Andersons label debut "3 Dicks", in its original form a nothing less but excellent workout in between Detroit-flavored ClubTechno and slightly Trance-influenced string arrangements that is impossible not to love. Remixes are provided Gary Martin, legendary producer and head of the well-respected Teknotika-label, who sticks with the feel of the main tune but basically transforms the beat structures which are now ever building into an abstract skeleton fusing hyper-minimal Electro and Intelligent Broken Techno - very impressive and worthwhile to see a proper vinyl release for sure, as well as by Bo Irion and Sascha Müller himself. Whilst Bo Irion serves a thrilling TechHouse-piece staying close to the main tune Sascha Müller adds a raw, unprocessed feel to his rework that comes up with a sawtooth bassline and tricky, electroid beats made to puzzle punters before all elements fall together properly and evolve into a prime time tune able to cause serious ecstasy on the floor. Recommended!

Sascha Müller - Krankenhaus (METAL) [SM Traxxx 016]

All fans of raw unedited Acid and Techno watch out for cat.no. 016 of SM Traxxx which, once again, features two tunes straight out of Sascha Müller's own studio. This time we're talking about - surprise! - pasty, metallic Acid directly imported from some alien swamps when it comes to "Krankenhaus (METAL) 1" and - talking "Krankenhaus (METAL) 2" here - a strange combination of aggressive bassdrums, gnarling Acid lines and playful melodies that seem to be totally out of time or order but still work as a track that's made for those who love tripping to mean music in long-time lost bomb shelters or industrial wastelands. Teknival music.

Different Colors EP [Super 6 Records 071]

As far as I remember the "Different Colors EP" is the first various artists four-tracker released via Super 6 Records, serving tracks by Artem Golovin & TOXIBEA, Helikopter & Ewan Rill plus two workouts by Crewger. Whilst the first mentioned are on a heavy Acid trip with their tune "Konstrukteur", Crewger is representing the school of HardAcid with a fusion of banging HardTechno and screaming, psyched-out Acid lines. Finally "Morphine" by Helikopter & Ewan Rill comes up with a dry, reduced and slightly mechanical attitude, ready to wipe out all thoughts with an ever repeating high frequency structure and far away train sounds - this one's deep shit for those who can take it.

Emil Davydov - Instance [Chillzone Records]

New on Chillzone Records is Emil Davydov's "Instance"-release which includes the two tracks "Instance No. 12" and "Instance No. 13" . But it's not only a name similarity to be found here - both tracks, each of approx. three minutes playtime, combine jazzy elements and floor fitting beats for eclectic dance. "No. 12" is faster and more primetime whilst "No. 13" is on a dope tip and on Instrumental HipHop / TripHop tempo.

baze.djunkiii Charts 11/2011

01. Ayshay - Warn-U [Triangle]
There are no fitting words to describe the deep, hyper-psychedelic attitude of Fatima Al Qadiris oriental turn on ChillWave. This is gonna be my favorite tune of 2011 and maybe beyond coze this one is giving me shivers every fucking time I hear it. Check the great video as well...

02. The Fear Ratio - Morning Blues *Plaid Remix [Blueprint 033]
A true masterpiece. Plaids rework for The Fear Ratio is nothing but epic, an expertly crafted tune in between melancholia and RAVE based upon a foundation of stumbling rhythm tracks switching between half- and doubletime without hitting the right tempo once, accompanied by sweet beautiful strings and thrilling sequences that turn your world in pieces to show you paradise only seconds later. This is exactly that kind of music Rephlex coined the term Braindance for. Experience the future and grab your copy of this tune.

03. Faust - Tell The Bitch To Go Home [Clouds Hill Recordings Ltd. 028]
What a massive blast. Krautrock-legends Zappi W. Biermeier & Jean-Herve Peron and their Faust-combatants deliver what sounds like a free and noisy re-interpretation of The Prodigy's massive smasher "Breathe" - at least I can't imagine that they've been using the same guitar hook accidentally but no matter if or if not, "Tell The Bitch To Go Home" is the most dancefloor devastating Faust-piece I've heard in ages plus it's quite accessible even for an untrained, non-avantgarde audience. The so-called "Post Office Cloud Mix" of the title track comes up as pleasantly minimalistic and electronic turn on the same track well-fitting for more advanced and non-rockistic occasions. Finally there's Bo Ningen's remix of "Lost Your Signal" to be found on this one, not exactly my cup of tea but still good for fans of Kraut-Metal-fusion.

04. Mosca - Done Me Wrong / Bax [Numbers 016]
SpeedGarage returns and it's a revival I've been waiting for so long. Although "Done Me Wrong" is quite slow and needs a bit of pitch adjustment it's clear that the tracks sweet characteristics are not UK Funky although Mosca's origins lie here. My favorite "Bax" on the flip is slightly darker and also a bit faster but on a SpeedGarage-tip as well. Dancefloors need more of this these days.

05. Safeword - You Can You Will [Dessous Recordings 105 Promo]
See review for details...

06. Detroit In Effect - Move Yo Body EP [M.A.P. 012]
Electro, Techno Bass, Detroit. Aux 88, DJ K-1, Southern Outpost. These are only a few reference points that come to mind when one listens to the four outstanding tracks featured on this massive 12" which is the best Electro release I've been coming across in a while. Raw, uncut and sexy as fuck. Plus: "Dutch Friends" has amazing lyrics. You need this.

07. Wehbba - 3 Days [Audiomatique Recordings 046 Promo]
See review for details...

08. Alex Flatner & Lopazz - This [Poker Flat Recordings 123 Promo]
See review for details...

09. Supershirt - Kunstwerk [Audiolith Promo]
See review for details...

10. Hecate - Brew Hideous Remixes [Ad Noiseam 143]
This one is pure hate. Four tracks taken from Hecate's "Brew Hideous" album remixed by Amboss, Slutmachine, Vile Enginez and White Darkness, serving - in order of appearance - darkest Amen-driven Breakcore, Death Ambient meets toting, Breakcore-influenced Black Metal, GuitarNoize and finally DoomMetal meets Death Ambient. If you feel suicidal, this is your soundtrack.
