03. Kastle - Time Traveller [Seclusiasis 026]
This nice 12" coming from the Seclusiasis-camp spreads a vibe balancing between Future Garage and Grime. Whilst the title track is an uplifting, ravey, piano driven example of the first mentioned style and goes well in classic UK Garage sets "Walking Away" on A2 is a sweet piece of what's called Rhythm'n'Grime featuring the vocal talent of Armanni Reign and Domonique. Further tracks "Bring Me Back" and "I Know" are proper instrumentals to be loved by DJs and MCs appreciating the raw street attitude of Grime and not the bling-flavor brought in by those producers trying to copycat the US-HipHop scene one on one.
04. Anti-G presents Kentje'sz Beatsz [Planet µ 301]
Honestly, I wasn't aware of what is described as Bubbling or Bubbling House scene going on in The Netherlands the liner notes talk about but what I know is that this album containing 16 short tracks and sketches by Anti-G a.k.a. Kentje'sz Beats can be described as the most exciting urban underground music since the emerge of early Grime. A cold, raw musical force that sounds like a mixture of DigiDancehall and Electronica spiced up with bits and pieces taken from UK Funky, sci-fi soundtracks and the futuristic attitude of purist Electro. Plus: this is the first urban dance music in ages that is not necessarily based on massive basslines but on alienating bleeps and abstract polyrhythmic structures with caribbean echoes. If little green men are having a dance I bet Anti-G a.k.a. Kentje'sz Beats is their DJ. Thrilling.

06. R1 Ryders - Full System EP [R1 003]
Another interesting style hybrid, this time serving four tracks somewhat in between UK Funky and Niche / Bassline which are in fact related styles both underrepresented in Germany as distributors over here seem still to be afraid of a huge backlash in bass music like there was with the UK Garage-scene about 10 years ago. Anyway, although the R1 Ryders come up with a print statement saying "We like it funky, we give you funky" on the 12" label I feel that these tracks are closer to a slowed down version of Niche / Bassline due to the heavy basslines and the straight 4/4 basement than to UK Funky although the characteristic, loosely swinging structures of UK Funky can be found in all tunes, too, and they are quite obvious in "On Your Marks" which kills dancefloors with a fluttering LFO-driven bass attack. Don't miss out on this one.

09. Oak - Bedroom Community / Kite [NASA 001]
Electronica? Hyper-abstract Drum'Bass? Somewhat in between? Three times yes and even more than that. Spaced out, deep as fuck and of a warm embracing musical beauty that is hardly found in electronic music of today. Autechre are having a party with the likes of Funkstörung, the young Photek, Instra:mental and Single Cell Orchestra. Sounds amazing? Buy this record and be part of the crew. Deep Listening Music that is truly able to touch your soul.
