Forthcoming via Audiomatique Recordings is Maetrik's new "Underrate Dis E.P." which is about to be released as the labels cat.no. 039 and features three brand new tracks of which "Relax" is to be found on the A-side. Personally I'd rate this one as weakest track out of these, coze some repetitive, metallic, always offbeat-sounding elements are fully destroying the thrilling magic of a nice and rolling oldskool'ish ClubTechno bassline and hypnotic vocal bits. "Purr Baby" as B1 does better and serves a hypnotic mixture of House grooves - yeah, even some hand claps! - and deep, haunting Minimal Techno - a combination that perfectly works throughout the last third of a long night when people are looking for an ultimate sonic trip. B2 "Herb House" is on similar tip, but focuses on classic, pumping House beats accompanied by a nice, delayed and ever repeating vocal sample plus some funny, mosquito'esque sound scampering through the stereo field. Irritating at first but a genious move indeed.
Road Trip Failure: Alte Zuckerfabrik / Rostock
First of all I'm sending out apologies to all ravers that made their way out through the snow to Alte Zuckerfabrik in Rostock tonite, expecting a Plutonium Pogo-night featuring Dadajugend Polyform live, plus Krink and me, baze.djunkiii, on the decks. Here's what happened, at least to Krink and me - I hope Dadajugend Polyform will post some kind of a statement soon.
Around 13.30 I've been hanging on the phone with Martin, the local promoter of the night, who was very sceptical about how many people would show up coze Rostock had been hit by heavy snow the night before and the public transport system was not running due to that. But we agreed on that the bunch of us should hit the road in Hamburg around 14.30 anyway and that he would be waiting for us from 17oo onwards, although I told him that we probably wouldn't arrive before 19oo as there was no proper forecast to the state of the streets. As we had finally made it to Alte Zuckerfabrik after nearly 4 hours on the road there was no sign of life at the club, the yard was deeply covered with snow and as I rang the bell of the only door showing a bit of light I met some strange youngsters telling us that the promoter had been there at around 17oo, told them that there would be no show and left without telling them more. We tried to bell him but he wouldn't answer his mobile, so we were gutted and forced to turn around, going back on the road to Hamburg. That's our part of the story and for me there's no second chance for Alte Zuckerfabrik. Not playing there again, not dealing with this promoter again.

Moonbootica - Men Of The Future [Moonbootique 038 Promo]
Forthcoming on Moonbootica's very own Monbootique-imprint is their new 12" "Men Of The Future". While the original tune is featured on the A-side and can be described as quite functional, but uber-kitschy amalgamation of ElectroHouse and ItaloDisco featuring epic strings and loads of retro'esque 80s sounds, a remix by France-based producer Kris Menace is to be found on the flip, which is more stripped down when compared to the original but still on a nice Italo-tip and that for my favorite version of "Men Of The Future". If you love FPU's "Crockett's Theme" then you'll appreciate this one for sure.

Acid Washed - General Motors, Detroit, America / Snake [Record Makers]
All of you DJ's who like to cross borders between uber-glitzy, slow motion House music and a genre that's named Cosmic or (Neo)Cosmic these days are recommended to check out Acid Washed's recent 12" released via Record Makers featuring the two tracks "General Motors, Detroit, America" and "Snake". Whilst the first mentioned is a nothing but epic excursion in synth-driven space music in it's original version, we see Blackstrobe serving a more uptempo, partly Italo'esque re-fix that's well fitting amongs tracks like DMX Krew's "Come To Me" or Morgan Geist's "Most Of All". "Snake" on the flip plays around with kinda Grime- / UK Urban-influenced beats, more epic synth arrangements and dark, seductive female vocals clearly referring to Björk as well as to the new school of highly appreciated female artists / vocalists that've been breaking in through in 2008/2009. Gavin Russom is on remix duties here and serves a spiralling 4/4 House (Not House) interpretation that will be well-appreciated in electronic clubs as well as on Indie dancefloors all over the place. Nice.

Duality Micro - Duality Micro [Super 6 Records 047.5]
Fresh on Super 6 Records as the labels cat.no. 047.5 is Duality Micro's same titled longplayer, which contains a bunch of ten of the cutest and cuddliest Electro / 4/4-tunes I've come across in a long time. Somehow similar to Anthony Rother's album "Little Computer People" but without vocoderized vocals and very well-fitting for small non mainstream venues run by music lovers. I bet a lot of people will <3 this one.

Binaural - Body Wars [Säurebad Records 019]
Fresh on Säurebad Records is Binaural's eight track album "Body Wars" which is - as nearly all releases on this label - recommended to all lovers of thrilling Acid sounds. No matter if straight, hypnotic and ever mutating like a kaleidoscope, based on more experimental, Electronica-influenced beats or ultra-functional MonoAcid - various facets of Acid are to be found on this one and they're crafted carefully, so if you're into tweaking 303-tones and their various clones you're likely to fully appreciate this album.

Derex - Free *Chosen Remixes [Super 6 Goodies 068]
Scheduled for release via Super 6 Goodies are the so-called "Chosen Remixes" of Derex tune "Free". The "Club Mix" is to be described as somehow strange mixture between Trance and Rock guitars, Sascha Müller fully reworks the piece and delivers a tool'ish Techno version, Toxic Chicken serves quirky ElectroHouse with full-on strings but in a tempo that's associated with 1994 HardHouse rather than todays dancefloors and the final "Buben Tribal Remix" is rather percussive but not really Tribal at all. Really not too sure what to make of this one.

Burnski - Me And You [Dessous Recordings 093 Promo]
Forthcoming on Dessous Recordings is the labels cat.no. 093 - Burnski's new 12" outing featuring title track "Me And You" and the additional "The Light" on the flip. Whilst the last mentioned deals with classic House music vibes, warm basslines and deep chords on top of a seductive groove, accompanied by an ever repeating male vocal sample saying "I Can't Stand The Light" that surely has some sexual vibes spraying around, "Me And You" operates on a more stripped down TechHouse-flavored tip, amalgamating some Latin-esque percussions, a danger zone athmosphere and haunting vibes. Out comes a classy peak time tool that will be played out in years still - one of those tracks perfectly working crowds now and forever.

Emil Davydov - Outcome E.P. [Super 6 Goodies 067]
Scheduled for release via Super 6 Goodies is Emil Davydov's "Outcome E.P." - a six tracker that surely will be loved by all Trance and HardTrance addicts out there. All tunes are nicely floating around inna warm, partly calm & hypnotic 1994 style and bring back memories of better days in which listening to this kind of music didn't mean spikey hairs, glowsticks, trashy neon clothing and parachutist trousers. Very enjoyable, not only for those following Trance music from day one.

Duality & eVade - Cries & Whispers [Pharmacom Records]
Upcoming on Pharmacom Records is the first ever split album of Duality and eVade who joined forces to produce this piece named "Cries And Whispers" which contains a whole of eight tracks that are highly recommended to all lovers of classic Electronica sounds - warm sounding with a positive athmosphere. Featuring loads of playful melodies this one reminds me of artists like Plaid or labels like the long gone Heimelektro Ulm Tonquellen, although there are some tracks that seem to be more dancefloor fitting than Electronica used to be back in the days. Really great listening music, but as well enjoyable in selected connaisseur-run clubs. How did the Rephlex-label once describe their music? Braindance.

Sergio - The Wow Signal [Super 6 Goodies 066]
Upcoming as cat.no. 066 on Super 6 Goodies is Sergio's "The Wow Signal", a two track piece that can be filed under the flag of uplifting Techno vs. glitzy ElectroHouse stylewise. This is not what I'd call spectacularly new but this one still is of a good quality and made for working willing crowds on the dancefloor. Tools for the DJ.

Neurov - Tear [Pharmacom Records 059]
Scheduled for relase via Pharmacom Records is Neurov's new two track E.P. "Tear" which features a tune of the same name plus another one named "Trigger". Stylewise both tunes can be described as metallic variation of abstract Drum'n'Bass / DarkJungle similar to early Current Value-, Mampi Swift- or 3D Mode Recordings-releases or several tunes put on the circuit by a french artist named Pushy featuring some highly Trance-influenced strings and melodies on top, adding a thrilling, totally different flavour to the beats harshness. If this was released on vinyl I'd rinse it to death.

Adultnapper & Mr. C present: Sycophant Slags - Keep Off [Poker Flat White 005]
Poker Flat Recordings deliver the fifth sequel of their Poker Flat White-series with a new collaborational project. Adultnapper and Mr. C of The Shamen- and End Recordings-fame are teaming up under the moniker of Sycophant Slags here and deliver a 12" that truly needs a bit of time and a few re-checks to be fully appreciated but finally turns out to be a quality piece of music, although Mr C. spoken vocals will defo not appeal to anyone on the Minimal Techno / -House circuit as they're quite outstanding and different to what is usually found on 12" vocalwise. Those who've been digging The Shamen from day one will defo appreciate the orginal version as well as remixes delivered by Reboot and Wighnomy Brothers, all others are recommended to check this out two or three times to feel the magic of this record if you don't get the point instantly.
Kaball - Elektrisch Motor E.P. [Super 6 Records 047]
All friends of melodic, slightly Detroit- and slightly Trance-influence Techno sounds are recommended to check out Kaball's "Elektrisch Motor E.P." forthcoming on Super 6 Records. Four tracks are to be found on this one, all of a specific string-laden, quite melancholic feel accompanied by powerful beats and huge glitzy basslines making sure that ravers hands are raised way up high in the air. Do not miss out on this one.

MetanoiaX - Broadcast E.P. [Super 6 Goodies 065]
As well upcoming on Super 6 Goodies is MatanoiaX' "Broadcast E.P.", which is the labels cat.no. 065. - a three tracker dealing with variations of metallic sounding Techno. Functional, raw and puristic, but still not more than average coze the sound FX used especially on hihats and other percussive elements sound too similar in each track. Not essential although there might be ppl who really love this tunes.

Duality - Star Cruiser / Escaping The Horizon [Chillzone Records 014]
New on Chillzone Records is Duality's new two tracker featuring the tunes "Star Cruiser" and "Escaping The Horizon", two pieces of easy, piano-flavored listening music that are technically well-crafted but easily forgotten as there've been loads and loads of similar pieces around on uncounted ChillOut compilations for years. For die hard fans only.
Stefunk - Nothing E.P. [Super 6 Goodies 064]
Fresh on Super 6 Goodies, whis ist Stefunk's new "Nothing E.P.", containing three tracks strictly made for the dancefloor. "Filement Techno" might be filed as proper, uptempo Rave Techno with classic stabs and an uplifting feel, "Überschall" is on a stompy, tool tip and finally we see "Chilling Sunday" dealing with some bassheavy Techno experimentalism that combines pure dancefloor functionality with sounds formerly provided by labels such as Autist, Null, Mercuro Chrome or Electronic Weed Crew, which means Techno for the headstrong.

NuSkoolBreaks.

Ryo Murakami - Just For This [Dessous Recordings 092 Promo]
All lovers of the so-called (Detroit) Beatdown, a specific sound that could be described as similar to pitched down DeepHouse to someone not familiar with this musical term, are highly recommended to watch out for Ryo Murakami's latest outing on Dessous Recordings which is called "Just For This". The orginal version on B1 is slow, deep and features some heavily pumpin' and stompin' bassdrums accompanied by classic chords - a mixture that always works best in small, dark and red'ish connaisseur clubs - whilst Graeme Clark's rework on A1 sticks close to the original tempo but transforms the tune soundwise into a more modern, contemporary format which has been called the new school of DeepHouse quite often in 2009. B2 is a tune entitled "Untitled" which is on a classic House tip, uplifting, hypnotic and uptempo, with some sparkling chords and vocal samples glimpsing through every few bars - a nice bit that'll be surely played out regularly by House music experts throughout the next months.

Kasper Bjørke - Alcatraz *Remixes [HFN Music]
As a teaser for Kasper Bjørke's forthcoming album "Standing On Top Of Utopia" HFN Music is about to put an upfront remix 12" of his track "Alcatraz" on the circuit featuring Jimpster, Kenton Slash Demon and Zombie Disco Squad at the controls, transferring the tune into a new form. Jimpster manages to deliver an uplifting piece of positive House music with some additional drifty vocal samples appearing here and there, Kenton Slash Demon serves a calm, floating rework that is best played out at the very beginning of a night whilst Zombie Disco Squad walks the thin line between classic, stripped down and still uplifting House and puts the ethereal vocals to the very forefront. Not necessarily my cup of tea but still a 12" that will be played out by many.
